      • get the latest 30.0-whatever release from apkmirror
(make sure to get either arm/arm64 for your cpu)
      • install ADB + drivers on your PC and set it up
(google it, there are better tutorials out there)
      • run 'adb install -r -d <your-downloaded-opera.apk>'

      Done.

@tr4shcr4ft I'm running v29 downloaded from APKmirror. I found Opera Mini v30 still have the fullscreen ads.

It's easier to install the apk using a file manager while temporarily enable the Install From Unknown Sources option.

if v30/31 is installed already, unrooted phones won't you allow to downgrade without adb

you're right on the version - 29 is the last one without ads!

Always remember that downloading softwares from non-official fonts may lead you to be infected with malwares.

use apk-mirror or fdroid, dont't download just from google search results, and verify signature

              or here:
              https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/mini/
              (no v29 tough)

I signed into my Opera account to sync my bookmarks and then uninstall the new version before installing v29.

@leocg APKmirror is run by Android Police, one of the most respected Android site on the web. The download page even provide confirmation that the apk is signed by Opera so it's safe to install.

                https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/opera-software-asa/opera-mini/opera-mini-29-0-2254-120398-release/

I've been using Opera since v5, when it was still shareware. I was disappointed when Opera move to Blink engine and dropped most of the features that made it stand out. Although I still use the latest Opera for Windows on my netbook, this latest development of pushing ads onto users of Opera Mini is the last straw. I don't see myself using Opera past the next 12 months. Thanks to all who have put in the hard work to make this great piece of software. Too bad, corporate greed from above ruined your hardwork.

@jaron Yes, there are downloads sites that are trustable but another dozen of them aren't.

BTW, here in the forums pointing to those non-official sources to download Opera should be avoided.

I'd rather pay than see full screen ads. Opera should add a "donate" button to remove it.

                      Hey guys.
Full screen ads are against Google Play rules.
I've used the link below to denounce it to Google:
                      https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/contact/takedown
I hope they will force Opera to do the right thing.

I've never posted twice the same message on the same topic, but on topics on the same subject. Is this how you guys decide to threat a customer? So we can't speak out politely against your the worst decision ever?

@sandroklostermann you can criticize Opera aa long as you follow the forum rules and you violated them when you started spamming the same post several times.

BTW, this conversation is off topic and also against the rules.

@sandroklostermann Well spotted. I have only saw the headline about banning ads on the lockscreen.

@leocg We are talking about the recent introduction of fullscreen advertising in Opera so it's not that far off topic. If you feel it would be better to split this discussion into a new thread, please do so but make sure to give it an appropriate Topic heading. I cannot think of one that take the subject seriously enough but at the same time does not sound like we are trolling.

I couldn't find anything on those Play Store rules on ads that can be used against Mini ads.

@leocg From memory, Opera Mini's fullscreen ads required user to wait 3 seconds before it disappeared. There was no close button to dismiss it.

Ads that take up the entire screen or interfere with normal use and do not provide a clear means to dismiss the ad:

BTW, the mobile UI for this forum is pretty awesome. I would drop the floating red button. It's hiding texts I'm typing.

@jaron It doesn't clearly say that the ad can't have a time to go away. That rule seems to aim those ads that can't be dismissed without the user opening them.

Dismiss the ad. We don't have a way to dismiss it. We have to wait the countdown. It is clear!

We should report it to google and let them decide it. I'm not sure if I were at Opera, if I would take the chance.
