Opera 36 stopped loading anything nor shutting properly

Windows XP SP3 on a Samsung 'nettop'.

If I remember correctly, first I installed the .65 or something version of Opera 36 (already having an Olde Opera installation on the system, FWIW), then later updated to this .80 or something, which is supposed to be the latest (and last supported) version for Windows XP.

One problem was that, I'm not sure if it asked but don't remember seeing options then, it installed in that same folder my older Opera 11 uses. Like in that same folder with both ones' files coexisting there in the same folder side by side. Like same level with no subfolders or whatever. It even didn't create a desktop shortcut so I needed to find the launcher file and create the shortcut myself, which I did; it started all right from that all the time no problem.

So, mainly there haven't been many problems. First it worked all right.
Not sure if there were times of slowness, no significant "refusal" issues.
But lately, Opera started to refuse loading anything more and more often.
Like this morning it was the second time in a row that I waited for tens of minutes with nothing to change - just this "Starting" or "Connecting" or "Searching" or whatever it normally shows at the first click or request in the tab's title.
Then the "stop" thing in the process bar didn't change anything. Clicking to close the tab (it was the only one) didn't change anything (previously it used to).
The previous time - the other day or yesterday - it was the same with Turbo on, this time it was that all over again with the thing off.

Not long time ago I reported my ISP had suggested it had been trouble with my recent 360 Total Security update (the anti-malware guardian here), but after some reboot it's been so-far-so-good - till now.

So what do you suggest I should check?
If I'm gonna have to reinstall in case it's needed, what about the thing being in the same folder with another one, its older sister? Could this Siameseness cause any trouble?

Ah! about not shutting down properly.

It does apparently close right away, but both these times in question a few processes remained running.
This last time it was three processes: two just opera-something, and the third being operacrashreporter or like that, which latter shut itself after I shut the second opera one (in the Task Manager).

Did you try a clean profile folder?

(Windows Explorer got a little messed up lately. Some minor settings jerked, and folders' view settings behave itty-bitty erratic. Could it be related? I rebooted and all since that.)

It always worth a try as many issues can be caused by broken profile folders.

Not sure but the OS not behaving well may be a sign of problems.

I'm with this Opera now.
Surprisingly it loaded the forums, though a bit slowish initially, and can't seem to fetch from gravatar.com.

Well, what I did if it mattered was I cleaned up some stuff: raised my free space on Disc C and removed Windows junk with my 360 cleaner. Removed some old unused shortcuts from my desktop, too.

Previously, I was having some tiring problem with my Firefox and plug-in on a certain site, and I resorted to terminating a couple of "extra" processes - not explorer (however it was there), but one was named realshed, for instance. Could it have been part of the cause of the issue? I was trying to terminate processes relating to media stuff, knowing that all "Real" is anyway blocked in that browser for security reasons...

For a couple of times in a row, my Opera 36 has given me a BSoD upon its closing.
I had a little window - of Windows' looks - saying something about some preferences file that could not be read or about that. I'm not sure if it was about this Opera because I'm not sure if it was at all open at the moment... Or it was when I was clicking to open it? Not sure...
Otherwise it worked all right while open though...

I had to open it this morning. Finding a page.
Yes, it seems very much that this warning windowlet has relevance to this Opera. It appeared again -- after I clicked to open and before the opening itself happened; blinking of my Desktop screen there was, too...

There was no BSoD this time, maybe due to the session being quite short...
