Google Chrome Extensions made by Google do not work on Opera.

I have noticed that most extensions made by Google from the Chrome Extensions store do not work on Opera. In particular, the Google Keep and Calendar extensions will not work. Does anybody else have this issue?

both of these programs are designed to work with google sync, so yes most likely you are going to have issues using them in opera. i'm sure you can find plenty of extensions built specifically for opera to do the same things.

@Ctzzs
I suppose they don't like allow Opera (nor Vivaldi, so it has problems also) to use those extensions, so they can force users to use Chrome instead.

I've read your post just right to post mine, you are right.
At the other hand, despite I didn't used the extension, even on Chrome, I still think they make some things to force the use of Chrome, mostly because they could code to use them in Chromium browsers if they want with some variations if needed, but other browsers are not Safari or iOS and do not receive any revenue.

i really don't mean to be or want to be rude, but you are just whining now. it's obvious that there is enough difference in code between the two browsers to keep those two extensions from working in opera.

I still think they make some things to force the use of Chrome, mostly because they could code to use them in Chromium browsers if they want with some variations if needed...If one stops and thinks about it, there's a simple reason Google makes a browser somewhat different from a pure chromium-based design and which can use unique extensions: it's a signficant part of the business they're in. Every browser maker wants their browser to possess 'distinctives' that separate it from the general universe of browsers, and Google is certainly no exception.
The big difference is that the Google/Chrome's organization is big enough that they can fork chromium-derived code in such a way as to provide themselves unique APIs for certain things they want to do, and being so large, they can expect the galaxy of websites to remain compatible with the resulting browser. It's what Olde Opera could (and likely would) have accomplished 'way back when' with Presto if they had been at least 50 or 100 times larger.

I don't use those extensions, but it's what it is.
Like @BlackBird71 explains, it's a bussines.
At the other hand, Opera needs "Download Chrome extensions" extension to download from Chrome Store while Vivaldi don't.
