There is a launcher.exe executable in the Opera folder. In the 33.0.1990.43 folder (also in the Opera folder) is a opera.exe executable. Which executable should I use to run Opera? I'm asking this because when I installed Opera, the Opera shortcut was placed on my desktop that pointed to launcher.exe. When I tried to use this shortcut that the installer put on my desktop I get this window: http://imgur.com/gm1zzYd . However, if I navigate to the opera.exe in the 33.0.1990.43 folder and use that executable, the Opera browser opens just fine. Can someone tell me why the shortcut that the installer placed on my desktop that points to launcher.exe does not work or gets that out of memory message?

I have had this problem on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I am now using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and have the same problem. I have 8GB of RAM and all my other browsers (Firefox, IE) open with no issue.

You should use launcher.exe, which will point to the correct opera.exe.

But Launcher.exe doesn't work correctly? So what works correctly?

Yes, it works correctly. Or should at least.

Does it works if you add the --no-sandbox parameter?

Then why does Path:\opera\launcher.exe result in 2 separate taskbar icons? One for launching, and one for the program? As opposed to the merged theme of Windows 7?

Launcher.exe has been renamed to (replaced by) Opera.exe in v33. If you use this version use Opera.exe.

Does that mean that if I upgrade from v. 32 to v. 33 and install it in the standard C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera location, it will overwrite Opera.exe from v. 12.16 that is in that folder?

I rather doubt it, since every version, ie 33.0.1990.43 has its own exe files named Opera. Launcher.exe seems to stay afloat

                        Don't know, maybe a bug.

Unpin Opera from the taskbar, run it from start menu, right ckick on the icon and pin it to taskbar again.

                        I guess it should work.
