Greetings everyone,
I recently enabled Opera's inbuilt ad-blocker with the following filters:
Easylist, Easy Privacy, Adblock Warning Removal, Malware block. After watching some youtube videos, I would find that the number of ads block would be ridiculously high.
An average of 20-50 ads block for short videos and a whopping 141 ads block from watching (well watching with intermittent pauses) the following video:(Let's Play Radiant Historia -- Episode 4)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiE4SDDjGnw&list=PLkp1A0-YERWzEqqw2_Nfd9HP3k8TJCmnx&index=4Is this normal? Is there a log for the ads block using opera's in-built ad-blocker?
Can anyone confirm my situation?
Thank-you

Is this normal?
Yes I guess. Seeing 20, 30+ ads blocked on a Youtube page here is usual.
Thanks for the reply admin. May I kindly know have you tried the youtube link I provided and see if you can get 141 ads block?
The thing is if I load the Youtube video page without playing the video, my ad-block number would be hovering around 15++. If I were to play the video, every 10 or so seconds, the ad-block counter would go up by one.

well it's simple.
Youtube makes around 10-13 billion a year with advertising.
I don't see any other way for them than to spam you with advertisement even when you don't see it doesn't mean is isn't there.Ofcourse this depends on wich video you watch. Cause the poster of that video decides the amount of advertisemend is on that specific video.
So that it blocks that much advertisemend isn't rlly surprising to me.
It's completely normal.extra:
youtube takes a 45% share of the earnings of the video posters.
so it's cleat how much money goes around throught youtube. -

Ah I see I see. I was just surprised that a 30 odd minute video would contain 141 ads.

Trackers are also involved.

Oh thanks for the info. So it means that whenever I am playing a video, youtube will constantly send trackers to their servers or requests for ads to their servers?
So when the request is blocked youtube will resend the request, hence increasing ads blocked?
Thankyou
