I love Full Screen because it often eliminates tons of ads cluttering the screen as well as popups that block what you want to see. But with Chrome based browsers like Opera, for some bizarre reason Google opted to force you out of Full Screen when you want to enter an URL. What possible reason could account for this I wonder? Is it so we're forced to engage more advertising? Don't they realize how aggravating a popup ad is? I would never support a company that blocks what I want to look at. Its like a salesman that never stops talking. You just leave.

Is there any way or is there an app for allowing the Control+D option to work in Full Screen?

Control + D is the bookmark shortcut in Opera. It works in full screen mode. As for ads, if you want to block them you really should get an ad blocking extension. Its kind of their entire reason for existing. Ads are not really full screen mode's reason for existing.

Sorry, I meant Alt+D. In Chrome based browsers it seems it doesn't do anything else you're not in Full Screen. It would great if it was functional in Full Screen.

This topic (here and in other threads) has been around for years now.

Opera people, your browser is amazing, but if I needed to point at a place of improvement I'd say improving full screen is the single most important one.

Having to switch back to windowed mode to bring up the address bar defies the point of full screen navigation. Also I need to escape form input fields and exiting with the esc key is far too sensitive and makes the whole thing very annoying.

Lastly, getting the mouse near the top should get you the address bar, not the full screen message.

A nice-to-have addition would also be a command menu in the Sublime Text editor fashion.

I created an account with you just to let you know my thoughts on this.

Almost one year later: Being annoyed about the lack of full screen usability (i.e. without way to enter an address to go to) I googled for a solution. I found this thread and some others, and found that no solution exists :(.

Chrome shows search & address bar on the speed dial page (its equivalent of it).

Firefox shows the address bar always, even in full screen mode. Leave a bit less screen estate, but at least full screen mode remains usable.
