I was writing a text for Wikipedia article in Opera when Windows suddenly started to update without even asking me. When my computer rebooted and I opened Opera all the text I spend 4 hours to write was gone. It it any way I can get this text back?

          Windows 10 I assume?!
Off topic, but to prevent this happening again, set up "Active Hours" in Windows 10 to prevent this happening again while you're using the computer.
          There is a guide here.
Easy to be wise after the event of course, but personally if I was typing that amount of text to put into a web site, I would always do it initially into Notepad or a word processor, making sure that it was saved frequently, and then copy and paste the finished version into the site.

Alternatively, you type in the form as you like, but every now and then you can copypaste your stuff into a txt or whatever you choose.

            Sites can lose user info.
            Browsers can lose user info.
So I chose to maintain a certain frame of quick access tech files to store data in case. "A Little Buffer" .txt., for example, can serve as a multiple clipboard for text.

Well, system settings should always be set to prevent the user's work from interfering at all, only the system shows a notification that an update is ready.

Another thing, for offline documents, and for all applications themselves usually, there is autosave, and crash protocos.
For in-site forms, however, there is none I've heard of. My point is - can an extension be devised to deal with it?

Notepad++ for very long text (it has auto save, enable it in settings)
Tamper / Violent Monkey + Text Bckp w/expiracy

I don't know if this still works.

If there is any Extensions Dev maybe could port this too.

I've seen @Vux777 is V7 Extensions creator!

I've used Textarea Backup in Opera 12 for years.
It's saved me quite a few times, but it doesn't always work nowadays on every site.
I don't think there is a version for Chrome-based Opera, but I'd be surprised if there aren't other extensions that will do the same thing.

Now, here it's the only place where I use it.

Didn't search for an extension, but I will soon or later. :wait:
