I have the stand-alone email client. Recently, I deleted my data for Airmail (beta), and then discovered that the data was all gone from my Opera Mail as well.

Does anyone know why this happened.

      Running Mac/OS Sierra on iMac.

As in, you went to "mail and chat accounts" in Opera and deleted the account? Or, did you delete all messages for the account in Opera and then empty the trash? Or, did you delete the folder the messages are in on your hard drive outside of Opera (if your file manager)?

Does anyone know why this happened.

Was this an IMAP account or a POP account? If a POP account, what settings did you have set on the "Incoming" tab in the account's properties? Did you have "Leave messages on server" unchecked? If it was checked, did you have "until I permanently delete them" or "Remove after N days" checked?

If there's an admin page for the airmail account on the server and there are POP settings for how messages get deleted, what were those set to?

If it is an IMAP account, then all messages are stored on the server, and deleting them from the server deletes them from Opera. That is how IMAP is supposed to work.

            Welcome to Opera forums @Mmachold!

The only thing that occurs to me is that you use IMAP on Airmail and deleting the mails from the server will also be deleted in Opera.
