Figuring out that clicking on a logo is a way to do anything. Logos are decoration: it's a stretch to think they also have some sort of function.

"Click on the Opera logo and go down to settings and preferences. What is so difficult about that?"

Because what you said is totally WRONG.

Settings don't show when the menu is showing. Read my previous post.

When I have menus instead of an Opera button, I have settings under Tools > Preferences. So you are missing that entry?

Just curious. Why are you using Opera version 12.12 for Linux?

I use version 30.0 which is faster. Also had and used version 12.17 in the recent past because it would play some videos that 30.0 won't. Used to be able to install both of those Opera versions in the past but lately for some reason only either 30.0 or 12.07 can be installed. Can't run both anymore with Ubuntu 14.04

There was no 12.17 for Linux. But you can always download one of the "tarballs" of 12.x and run it without actually installing it - that way you could have as many Presto-based versions as you feel like.

Even I am not able to see preferences menu at all. If I click on Cntr+12, preferences menu does not appear. I am using version 42.0 + Win10 and there seems to be some bug in Opera and due to certain settings, preferences is getting hidden. As per @johnlvs2run comments, I tried, but I do not see even Open option at all. I need to block few sites and unable to do this.

There is no Preferences in Opera 4x, it is Settings since version 16.

I just started using Opera yesterday. I'm running Windows 10 x64, Opera version 42.
I need to set some preferences. One of them is setting the home page.
Preferences are not available in Settings.
                        How can I do this?

Why are you posting in the Linux forum?

Menu > Settings, look for "On startup" on the first page of settings.
