      Hi,
for many many years I'v used this browser, for many many years it has been the only browser that worked on my slow connection...
Sice a few months things have changed:
-The is no way to open a page on a slow connection (I have EDGE= 20KB/s)....in just 4 seconds I get "IMPOSSIBLE to open page...", it dosent even try!!!

This happens on pc version and also android version, I'v tried many many times but just can NEVER open ANY page on an edge connection!!!!

Is this problem going to be solved in future versions?

      Thanks!

happens here as well on occasions.

on a very slow 32-64 kbit/s connection, across various android, windows, linux versions employing opera's web proxies using data savings/extreme/offroad/turbo modes.

maybe caused by inappropriate time-out settings on opera's servers, while web pages are ever growing in size.

sending a bug report including the line speed might help the techs to fine-tune the systems.

Unfortunately today's web is not made for slow connections and/or slow computers.

Or maybe being caused by... a slow connection. 🙂

Serious, I may be wrong but I don't think they can keep increasing time-out limits.

              @leocg

truedat, today's net isn't made for dial-up modem speeds.

sometimes it helps to turn images off and load the pics later as needed. feels like browsing with mosaic...

Yes I have tried turbo and it's been fine untile this summer....

I don't have dialup but ad cell EDGE speed: 20KB/s!!!

Ok but a timeout of 5 seconds is simply UNUSABLE!!!! At least make it 60-90sec!!!!!

I don'mind waiting for the page....but I want to be able to open it!

And without Turbo the behaviour is the same?

So it's not related to Opera's servers timeout limits.

Any idea what it's related to??
Why did it work until begining of summer then stopped working?
                        What has been changed?

On android I'v tried a couple of other browsers and they work....so it's not my phone...

Slow connection? Page timing out quickly? Opera timing out quickly? Don't know.

Does Chrome works? If not then it may have been a change in Chromium.

Ok on my android phone chrome works fine with and without "data saving" mode, and it's quite fast opening pages even on my slow connection!!!

                                  What do you mean?

I'm in same location, I tried both opera and chrome one after the other without changing connection...

When you enable data saving, your data goes through a server that compacts it and send it to you.

If Opera's and Chrome's servers are on different locations, it may take more time for the info to reach one than the other.
