Hi, I just started using Opera on my HTC 10 phone running Android version 6.0.1. I have enabled the ad blocker (Settings>Data Savings>Block Ads), but it does not seem to have any effect; there are still too many ads. Am I missing something?

Maybe you are using private tabs?

Do you see ads on all pages?

Have you also enabled data saving?

Thank you xirit32 and leocg for helping me out. I am new to Opera as of today, coming from Firefox. Opera is faster, I like it.

Xirit32, the private tab setting is probably at the default setting. I have not touched any settings except enabling "block ads".

Leocg, sometimes fewer ads or no ads on the page, sometimes several. I have data saving enabled.

Strange, so you 've said you have data savings enabled, this means you've ticked the box and you see a blue tick, right? Could you post an example site?

I see sparsely some ads too that are not being fully blocked (I report them through the bug wizard), but not that much like you do, which makes it a bit wierd.

Today I see much fewer ads. There are a few on the Guardian's web site (www.theguardian.com) and that of Washington Post (wwwm.washingtonpost.com).

Maybe there was an initialization error of parameter "Data savings". After downloading and starting the program, "Data savings" was perhaps not enabled although "Enabled" was ticked.

I've tried the washington one and I can confirm that ads are being shown. For a moment it passed from my mind that because it is a secure site (https) their ads could be stored in secure servers as well so the Opera ad block wouldn't work correctly but then I opened the same page with Opera Mini and there were no ads at all, which makes it totally wierd 🙂 I thought both browsers were using the same servers/server-side technology, any dev that could enlighten us?

Hello everyone. Would also like to say that the adblock on both opera and opera mini works poorly. It does not block all ads like dolphin browser on many sites. Sometimes the will block the ads sometimes the dont. It does this on sites like pcgamer.com geek.com gizmodo.com
                    Gamespot.com
