      Hey,
      I have a laptop with:
      Intel GMA 4500MHD
      Core 2 Duo @ 2.93GHz (Penryn)
      4GB DDR2 RAM

Opera version 38 (latest) with h264ify extension

Now, I have been trying to get hardware acceleration to work on YouTube videos but it hasn't worked for me... Accelerating a local video works on MPC-HC (the video is a downloaded YouTube video with the same exact format and codec - MPEG 4). Furthermore, H.264 (MP4) YouTube acceleration has been working on Mozilla Firefox 47 and I didn't have to force it to work.

      Graphics Feature Status
      Canvas: Hardware accelerated
      Flash: Hardware accelerated
      Flash Stage3D: Hardware accelerated
Flash Stage3D Baseline profile: Hardware accelerated
      Compositing: Hardware accelerated
      Multiple Raster Threads: Disabled
Native GpuMemoryBuffers: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled
Rasterization: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled
      Video Decode: Hardware accelerated
      Video Encode: Hardware accelerated
      WebGL: Hardware accelerated

      Supported features from opera://gpu

      video_decoder WMFVideoDecoder --- From opera://media-internals
Supports Hardware H264 Decoding Yes --- According to Firefox
GPU Accelerated Windows 1/1 Direct3D 11 (OMTC) --- According to Firefox

Could there be a way to force enable Direct3D 11 on Opera since I have the disable_d3d11 flag?

I really like Opera and I don't wish to drop it over this issue but can someone please help me? ^-^

      Thanks,
      Aurora

        What is your OS?

Chrome or Vivaldi use hardware acceleration for the same videos?

have you tried installing a separate codec pack as MPC-HC comes with it's own built in hence why it probably works Opera only uses codecs available on the system

            I use Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64-bit (Build 7601)
I have tried H264 video on YouTube on both Chrome and Vivaldi (tried the 64-bit version of Vivaldi aswell).
Both Chrome and Vivaldi were the latest versions..
Firefox still works without a problem and my CPU usage is noticably lower since there is video acceleration.

            Thanks

So both Chrome and Vivaldi behave the same as Opera? If so then it's a Chromium issue.

Oh, there's no way to get around it then?

Oh okay, I guess I'll try new versions of Opera when they come out in hope of it working. Is there any way to open a bug report to Chromium maybe?

                    Thanks

For sure. Probably there is one already.
