      Hello,

I can see from when times goes by, Opera start up slower & slower due to many emails in it.

I have today a standalone installed & pop all emails ( 100k mails ) but Opera could start very fast.

How I can keep Op era young & fast forever ?

( What will happen if I edit & save index.ini when Opera is opened )

      Thank you very much.
      Edmond.

Never edit a setup file while Opera is running. No, it won't crash, it's a waste of time as Opera will overwrite it.

If you are using IMAP you can set it not to keep local copies of messages. Otherwise, start deleting messages you no longer need.

You can use programs like https://mailstrom.co/ to delete and archive messages to clean up your mail boxes

You don't need restart Opera browser to accept modifications(changes) in Opera's menu configuration.

              1. Go to Preferences > Menu configuration > choose (activate) standard menu, click OK. Then repeat this and choose your edited menu configuration. You can automatize this by using special sequence of actions assigned to the custom button, custom keyboard shortcut etc.

                Hi Stng ,

in version 11.xx , I could not find Menu configuration .................

I can only go to [Opera:config] (https://www.upload.ee/image/5936897/Screenshot_-_7_3_2016___1_58_28_PM.png) and input "Menu"

Also, I not understand your saying about ................. Then repeat this and choose your edited menu configuration. You can automatize this by using special sequence of actions assigned to the custom button, custom keyboard shortcut etc.

                Thank you very much.

                    You don't need opera:config here.

If you want your modifications(changes) in menu configuration (in other words, in your Menu Setup, i mean your INI file with menu) to take effect without browser restart, all you need:

                    1. Choose and apply standard Opera's menu. Go to Opera's Preferences window -> Advanced -> Toolbars -> Menu Setup - Choose "Opera standard", Click OK.

                    2. Then go back to the Menu Setup (though the Preferences window) and choose your modified menu configuration.

                    • NOTE !!!
If you don't have your modified menu setup (other than standard_menu.ini), just duplicate it from "Opera Standard" (go to Preferences -> Advanced -> Toolbars -> Menu Setup - Choose "Opera standard" - Click on "Duplicate" button. Select your new duplicated Menu Setup(copy) and click OK.

                    • NOTE !!
All further modifications in menu should be made in your duplicated copy of standard menu (you can find your duplicated menu setup ini-file in Opera's profile folder, in "Menu" subfolder")

                    • NOTE !!
The same principle will work for Toolbar Setup (if you want to modify your toolbar configuration through the manual edition of the INI-file of your Toolbar setup. You don't need to restart Opera to take effect on manual modifications of the toolbar.ini.

Also, I not understand your saying about ................. Then repeat this and choose your edited menu configuration. You can automatize this by using special sequence of actions assigned to the custom button, custom keyboard shortcut etc.

Create new keyboard shortcut (hotkey). Go to Opera's keyboard shortcuts Manager. In the [Application] section create new shortcut, for an example m alt shift (Alt+Shift+M).

Then assign this actions to the created new shortcut:

Show preferences, 25 & Delay,500 & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Delay, 500 & Previous item & Click default button & Delay, 500 & Show preferences, 25 & Delay,500 & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Focus next widget & Delay, 500 & Next item & Click default button

This is a great tweak. Now you can apply your modifications in menu (INI) without browser restart by pressing Alt+Shift+K.

                    • NOTE !!!
You need a proper Menu Setup list, to make this tweak work. The Menu Setup list should be:

                    ====== Menu Setup List ======

                    1. Opera Standard - not active (do not make any modifications in standard menu, do not touch the "standard_menu.ini" anymore)

                    2. Copy of Opera Standard - ACTIVE (you should make all for your further menu modifications in this file only)

====== End of Menu Setup List ======

                    • NOTE !!!
Tested in Opera 11.64. AFAIR, older 11.x versions has the same UI design, so it should work with your 11.52.

                    • NOTE !!!
Also, you can try to create (generate) a custom Toolbar button e.g. "Apply Menu Setup changes" to take effect on your modifications with single click (if you don't like keyboard shortcut)
