It may surprise everyone, but not me at all, that I didn't get a reply after some 10 days or more. Now as usual one is always best helped by yourself. So I found the solution myself, but came back here to help those that had the same issue and couldn't help me either. The solution can be found by reducing the zoom level below 125%. Mine was set at that level and by reducing it to 110% (temporarily) I could access all the buttons of the GXControl. Issue solved hereby.

Yep dealing with it here too. It wouldn't be so bad if the "new" picture in picture actually worked with RTX Super Resolution like it's supposed to. But it doesn't. So I use the old version but now the old version crashes Opera.....I don't have this problem on any other browser. I prefer Opera GX but much more of this mess I'll just use Brave. Fix at least one of the problems, this is starting to snowball.
Opera GX Video popout player causes browser to close.

Make sure the feature is enabled at the URL opera://settings/splitScreen first.

Then, ctrl + left-click the other tab you want in split screen besides the one that's currently focused. Both tabs being selected then might not be visually obvious though, but just go with it.

Then, right-click either of those tabs (the currently-focused one for example), scroll down and click on "Create split screen".

Or, instead of selecting 2 tabs, you can just grab the currently-selected tab down really far until you see the split screen UI and then drop that tab to have it split the screen with the tab next to it.

In the middle of split screen, you should see 3 vertical dots that you can click to exit split screen.

I started having this issue after turning off hardware acceleration, and turning it back on fixed it for me (after a restart of windows explorer).

You might want to check in Opera settings whether or not "graphics acceleration" is enabled or disabled. If it's not on, try turning it on, then, you will need to either restart your PC, or restart Windows Explorer through task manager.

Hopefully this fixes your issue, if it doesn't, I'm afraid I'll be of no more help.
