It appears that I made the right choice & the version that appears on the Download page is incorrect for my computer. Any other Linux-Opera users with 32-bit computers should beware that if this the only version that's displayed on the Download page: "Opera 12.16 for Linux x86-64", it's for 64-bit machines. I'm going to submit this as a bug report next. Regards!

I've been an Opera user for many, maybe 10 years or more. Now I decided to try Evernote and in Opera 12.16 it is not possible to run a web client of Evernote. Web Evernote window is blank. Even a plugin for Evernote Web Clipper says that it needs at least Opera version 16. So I decided to switch to Firefox.

Maybe formerly Opera was something extra, but now I found that when I download about 10 plugins, I have a browser that looks like and works like Opera or maybe better. Especially important for me is speed dial plugin Super Start and plugin QuickJava for switching javascript, flashes, etc on and off. Firefox Link is also available.

I exported Opera bookmarks with folders of bookmarks into html format and an import to Firefox was flawless.

You could see if this is something about your profile by loading Opera with a test profile via the terminal, e.g.:
opera -pd /tmp/opera_test_profile

What i did - i've configurated custom mouse gesture to close annoying window with middle mouse mouse (single click on nag window):

Edit you mouse setup, in Advanced -> Dialog section

[b]button3[/b] = [b]Focus next widget & Click button[/b]

Now use middle click on nag window to auto accept certificate.

You can also set the custom keyboard shortcut (Space, for an example)

Depending on settings, Opera (Presto-based versions) can even force target links to open in the current window, or block them as pop-ups. No surprise there ...

How typical... nobody responded in a month. Does the same for me. Actually forced me to create ipv4 only subdomain in DNS to get around this issue.

Sigh, I have been loyal to Opera since version 6, but recent years activity is really changing my mind...

Now this would be completely incomprehensible and - if true - would mean that Opera saves sessions automatically into 2 different locations. If by "uses the one in the Windows folder" you mean that upon startup your Linux Opera opens the last tabs you had open in Windows, well this is is relatively easy. Probably this is what you did:

1) Preferences > General > Startup > "Continue saved session"
2) opera:config > User Prefs > Windows Storage File > ""path/to/Opera Windows/sessions/autosave.win"

Thanks for your answer, GwenDragon. This setting doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, hardware acceleration is already disabled in Opera.
There's still the hardware acceleration setting in flash but, as I said, I do not want to remove such an important feature globally to solve an issue that only happens in Opera.
I can play any embedded youtube video, but I can't play them in the youtube main website

changing keyboard layout with "menu" key triggers context menu as well (started with 12.16)
