You probably need to perform a more complete removal of the AppsHat adware. It normally comes into a system bundled with other software downloads (usually freeware), and may or may not have its presence disclosed in the download statement. The adware installs itself in multiple ways that allow it to re-spawn itself if removal is incomplete... it typically injects browser extensions, registry keys, Start-folder links, and regular installation files. Simply uninstalling it via the Control Panel will not usually remove it completely, and all or parts of it will reappear thereafter. Likewise, its registry keys may interfere with getting a browser to run right again after you re-install the browser. You will need to use some removal tools like AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes to get all of it out.
I would suggest either following the removal steps in a reputable website like http://malwaretips.com/blogs/appshat-virus-removal/ or else get assistance from a security website such as those at DSLR, Wilders, Malwarebytes, etc forums.
i used malwarebytes and adwcleaner and it supposedly scanned and cleaned my pc. the problem is still there. i have no idea if they removed "apps hat" in particular, but i do know that they removed other malwares and viruses.
