For me, this issue got resolved when I upgraded to macOS Catalina. It could be that some of the system-wide configs were changed in the process...

RE: Backward and forward buttons on Logitech Mouse not working with OperaOpera for Mac
@sgunhouse the fact that it works for you on Logitech trackball doesn't mean it works in general. For me on macOS even with Logitech Options installed it is not working when using MX Vertical. The only workaround I found successful is to move the mouse cursor to the far edge of the screen (to get a window resize cursor) and only then backward and forward buttons are working.
Judging by the comments on the thread, conclusion is that your setup is an edge case and basic functionality is broken for majority.

RE: Backward and forward buttons on Logitech Mouse not working with OperaOpera for Mac
Keystroke mapping workaround no longer works. I'm on Opera 60.0.3255.170, macOS Mojave 10.14.5 and using Logitech MX Vertical. This bug really needs to be fixed by Opera devs.

RE: Mouse "go back button" support - logitech mx master 2sOpera for Mac
Hi All,
I have the same issue with Logitech MX Vertical - mouse4 and mouse5 buttons are working perfectly as back and forward buttons throughout macOS including all web browsers except Opera. This bug only started happening recently. I'm still hoping Opera team will fix this annoyance as the bug is obviously introduced locally to the Opera browser.

Privacy improvementsSuggestions and feature requests
Mozilla recently invested efforts to Tor Uplift project, an initiative to import more privacy-focused feature from the Tor Browser into Firefox. Few examples are:
Canvas blocking
System font whitelist
Battery Status API removal
First-Party IsolationWhat is Opera's status regarding above mentioned methods to prevent unwanted tracking and increase privacy levels? Is something similar already supported and if not can it be added to the roadmap?
