Seems that it was indeed the most likely source as we both suspected.
I tested it in my newly created user account in Windows (to be on the safe side, because it is still Beta).
How long do you think will it take until final release? But perhaps the problem is alreay fixed with the ~ .50 version you mentioned or one of the later minor updates.
What is remarkable is that Opera is now faster than before, even though 50 or so tabs are pinned and the bookmark site is fully displayed. This might perhaps because I used my most recent profile for the test, i.e. the one after letting Speedy Fox cleaning it.

First of all: Thanks for your quick response. It is really nice to communicate with someone who crasps the problem in all dimensions. Yes, I fully agree with you in what you wrote about the most likely source of the problem!
It is either a bug or an unintended side effect of Monday's update, hopefully fixed at least with the next major release.I tried downloading this ~ .50 version, but could not find it. It is not yet offered by the official German Opera site.
Will try Beta version and/or Opera Developer ...

@burnout426
ok
btw: Opera 92.0.4561.50 update does not work for me. I can extract the file and start it from the windows folder that is created by this, but this is not like a real update installation overwriting the previous Opera version, correct? -
RE: Opera does not load profile anymoreOpera for Windows
@burnout426 ok thanks, done; but it seems that the problem is not yet solved in this version; so I still need to wait until the 93-version is officially released
One question: I downloade the 64 Bit version, but the task manager tells me that I run the 32 Bit version. Did I make a mistake during installation? -

@burnout426
Maybe I did a mistake by download the false update file first. I simply repeated the update with the 64 Bit version. Now the system tells me that I'm running the 64 Bit version.
Anyway: Result is the same: Bug ist not fixed in this most recent update. So I still need to wait or check in between with every new update again. I'm sure there will be at least one minor update next week.
I will also uninstall the current Opera version once the 93er versions comes in order to start with a freshly installed new version that works again. -

This update works finally!!! Opera loads the profile again. Seems that no data are lost.
Hopefully, It also works for other users again.

@celebspeople1
Sorry to hear that. I hope you have a back up of your profile.
Yes, I also tried the most recent update from November, 15th and the problem is still the same. The problem is solved, however, with Opera Beta. So it seems I or we have to wait until this version is finally released.
It means a delay for me in my work (which is, however, an additional job only) as I don't add further bookmarks currenty (seems to me a little risky to simply proceed with the Beta version) while I can, of course, read all existing.
Let's see. -
RE: Opera does not load profile anymoreOpera for Windows
@sonthin2
I just saw that in my thread before (2 days ago), that the most important message was somehow cut off for whatever reason.
So here again:
The problem ist completely solved with Opera Beta!!! So it has to be a bug or unintended side offect of November, 3rd Opera update.
Thanks for your advice.
The profile works even faster than before (which might be because I had cleaned it with speedy fox in the meantime). While I can read everything (e.g. all bookmark, settings etc.) I'm reluctant to work with a Beta version. That is why I asked you how long it would probably take for the Beta version to be finally released.
Until then, I keep trying if one of the next minor updates will perhabs already solve the problem. -

RE: Opera does not load profile anymoreOpera for Windows
@burnout426
I tried all this already and much more using a newly created user account in Win10. The problem is the same with even single files of my profile (e.g. bookmarks only).Opera works, of course, as a freshly installed ("virgin" and stand alone) version. So I already know that the problem has something to do with my previous profile.
What is striking, however, is that the problems is even the same when I use my last backed up complete user profile (from October, 29th), i.e. the profile with which I could relaunch Opera after backup on that day and with which I worked in Opera for more than a week afterwards (working means, for example creating new bookmarks and bookmark folders). This makes me pretty confident that the problem is not due to a damage or something similar somehow occuring on Monday or perhaps even before. What also speaks against a damage is that currently (right in this moment) Opera is open, all tabs or displayed and even the bookmark site is loaden.
But: Something Terribly slows down Opera always to the point when Win10 tells me "no reaction" and which prevents me from working with the browser. Since it occured Right After a major Opera update done right after a Windows update, I suspect that the problem lies here. So it is most likely either the browser update or the Win10 update or both intermingling.
I also suspect that it is a space constraint problem. Opera seems unable to fully load all pinned tabs and display the bookmark site with the resources it is allowed to employ. Hower, what is strange in this context is that Opera does hardly use the resources available on my system. So even when I do another test by relaunching Opera, neither RAM (16 GB on a notebook) nor CPU capacity are used beyond 50 percent. There is also more than 600 GB free disk space on my SSD (meaning that there shouldn't be a problem with swap file size either).
I have found some useful hints what possibly to do in this case (e.g. here https://forums.opera.com/topic/31146/how-to-allow-opera-more-memory/4), but I'm a little reluctant trying this.
Honestly, I would really like to discuss this issue with an Opera developer, because I believe such a person would most likely have some ideas what could cause the problem as well as the skills to do some manipulations within Opera (e.g. changing scripts) or perhaps do some corresponding adaptations in Win10 that could bring relief.
Does anyone here have such contacts and could perhaps provide me with an e-mail? I know, it is mostly likely useless to ask such a question, but one never knows ...
By the way: Opera bug reporting is very unsatisfactory. I have, of course, already filed a report on Tuesday morning and responded three times since then on my query stressing the urgency of that issue for me and my work. However, no response yet ...
Update: I have also tried tools like speedy fox. This indeed make the opera starting page appear more quickly than before until the problem takes over ...
