@blackbird71 I remember the issues my brother and business partners had to make their site compatible across platforms.
So now, for all practical purposes it's chrome based and Sarafi, I guess. Which, the latter is a Job's rip off of open source webket, IIRC. Just like the Apple OS is a rip off of Berkeley Unix, can't recall what it was called.
@blackbird71 Wow! Thank you! And I Do find it interesting. I go all the way back to Netscape! Didn't Opera also have a Gecko engine?
As noted upstream, I've been with Opera since it was ad supported and I paid whatever the fee was to remove the ads.
I do remember web designers having to accommodate all the players.
@blackbird71 Doesn't MS Edge also use Chrome? Did Google make it open source, or do they pay licensing fees? What is so attractive about Chrome? Opera had their own engines for years that were noticeably better the Windows Explorer, for instance.
@blackbird71 I've never really understood how certificates work. But I don't have issues with Chrome or Firefox, same computer, same OS.
@leocg Yes, as I very recently reported, if I click on Help Me Understand, it does give an option to go to the blocked site anyway.

@oddssatisfy Absolutely nothing to do with my internet provider, which is over the air T-Mobile. This only happens with Opera.
Update: When I get the "Your connection is not private" page, I found out if I click on "Learn more," there is then an option to proceed. Annoy, but a workaround.

@greenmanharper This won't help, but I feel your pain. Because I had issues, I scrubbed my computer of anything Opera. Files, folders, registry. Installed the new version. Set it up. Would not import my settings from Firefox. I opened up FF and.............it was scrubbed clean of anything mine. In fact, it opened up to the new user screen. I am mad beyond belief.
I have been using Opera for quarter century, when one had to pay to remove ads. And, after all that, my new installation has the same problem as the old one, telling me pages aren't secure, within a couple of hours.
At least it still works fine on my laptop.
Setting up a new installation of Opera, I wanted to add Enhancer for YouTube. It's no longer available. So, I dove down into the Opera files on my laptop, found folder with extension, copied it over to the PC. No go. Well, look at that. Opera is actually removing the EYT folder after a short while. What gives? I tried multiple times. Same result.
On the web, EYT still bills itself as being available for Opera.
Update: I couldn't figure out the certificate angle. So, the other day I deleted Opera. Every file, every registry entry. Installed new. Went to import my Firefox data and nothing came up! Went over to Firefox and my data had been gone! It even opened to the new user page!
Fortunately, I have a well functioning Opera on my laptop. I tried Sync and nothing synced. Fortunately I was able to copy and paste the Opera Stable folder. Voila!
Then a few hours of use, "Your connection is not private!" Eff! Eff! Eff!
Firefox doesn't not offer to import from Opera, so I selected "Import from Chrome." Says it did, but it didn't. So, once again I am having to build Firefox back up from scratch.
My long marriage with Opera, on my PC is now ended. I'm sad. I'm pissed.
After a reinstallation of Windows 7 (yes!) every time I try to open a page now I get that warning. I have reinstalled Opera, too. No problem opening pages in Firefox.
I have been using Opera for over 20 years, going back when you actually had to pay to use it.
If I can't fix this, it will be hello Firefox.

Probably not. It's based on the open source webkit product, just like Chrome and Safari and some older Nokia phones. If not in the webkit core, forget it.
Opera just joined the list of also rans. Opera development staff meeting last winter: "Hey, guys and girls, I have a great idea! Let's change Opera from the wonderful, unique, much love product that it is and make it like Chrome and Safari! No more Save as MHTML, no more search toolbar."
Starting with a clean Windows install, I downloaded Opera 15...............WTF is this???????..........Fortunately, I found 12.16 on the intertubes and it is, and will be my browser until it grows a beard. For the icon for 15, I named it, "Son of Opera."
Never thought Internet Exploder would become my secondary browser. At least it has save as HTML.
Been with Opera since 6.0. Even paid $35 for it way back when, no ads and great email support.
