Try Opera 12.14. No crash on playing Yahoo's videos.
12.15 and 12.16 has broken web-site compatibility.

Not very sure to be honest, different files so even if they are both installed they shouldn't interfere with each other.
Personally I would remove 18 completely but that's just me. 😉

You shouldn't. Are you at Opera's own download page (Opera. Made for your computer)? About 2/3 of the way down that page, you should see:
