I find out via other Filepuma.com
that an Opera Update is available.
I then log on to Opera for that purpose. I click the Help tab and then Update and Recovery .tab. It then shows Version Nr Checking for updates. At the top under Version it says "Opera is Up to Date quoting version Nr.
But
Below that is another tab saying Check For updates.
I click on that tab to download the update.
Surely this is illogical and that a better way would be to show Current Version Nr with a tab stating "An update is available" with an option to click on a tab "Download now'"

[Solved]Save Opera Updates to another deviceOpera for Windows
I am Windows 10 (64 bit) Build 1902.
With program updates I generally like to download and save the update file to another device e.g USB.
I do this so that if my Laptop crashes I can reinstall programs from my backup device rather than individually going to all the websites and having to download.
I always like to have the latest version.
Until recently I mainly used filehippo.com as a source for availability of updates.
Lately filehippo seems to have gone awry in many cases. e.g it will quote a new update version e.g xxxx.193 available but when one clicks on that header to download the update file it shows an older (and most likely already installed ) version e.g xxxx.174I have Opera v 60.0.3255..170 installed but I had to do that by direct update from the Opera Site which directly only installs it on my hard drive.
Is there a way to download and save the updated version to another device for backup purposes.?

Arrange Tabs or News Squares on opening pageOpera for Windows
When I log on to Opera , the opening page shows several "squares" . These are my three selected News Sites plus the one for Opera Forum.
They show horizontally across the page.
I have quite an attractive Wallpaper and the "square' on the right obscures a core part of the wallpaper.
Can I reposition or rearrange the Squares (like" arrange Icons" on MS Windows)?
I have tried drag and drop but this does not even allow me to rearrange the sequence on the horizontal line.Sorry i cannot think of correct terminology other than Squares.
If I want to add one i says "Do you want to add another site?"Neil

Provide Option for Desktop Shortcut during InstallationSuggestions and feature requests
a) Many programmes when one is installing an update provide an option (as part of the upgrade process or 1st installation process if installing the programme for the first time) "do you want to Create a Desktop short cut?"
b) Secondly there is sometimes a prompt " e.g "an existing version is installed - Upgrade Yes /No?"At present one has to update Desktop Short cut manually via Launcher.exe or Select Opera.exe and then Create a Short cut.

RE: No sidebar at Speed DialOpera for Windows
HI leocg I did have Show Sidebar enabled.
I want to widen the Sidebar. I checked under Opera Extensions re Sidebar which has some displays one of which is what I used to have.
Unfortunately that " Display in Extensions " is just that -an image-.
It does not tell one how to enable such display.
IO have tried dragging the right edge of the Sidebar to make it wider but nothing happens. -
No sidebar at Speed DialOpera for Windows
i am on Windows 10 64 bit Build 1809 I have today updated Opera to 60.0.3235 .59 from the 60.0.3235.27 version.
The problem appeared recently in 60,0.3235.27 version.
Previously on my Start page the Navigation bar (on screen's left side) which included Bookmarks, displayed as well as my Speed Dials (I only had 3)Now only the Speed Dials display and that screen occupies almost the full page.
I can access my Bookmarks by "playing around": but have been unable to reduce the screen size showing Speed Dials
only. How can I get back to my original (has been so for many years) of showing clearly the Navigation Bar plus my Speed Dials on the same start page?.

Shortcut on Desktop- Windows 10Opera for Windows
I am on Opera 54.0..2952.71 version.
When one updates Opera it does not automatically offer an option to create a Desktop Shortcut.
One has to use Explorer and manually create one.
With this latest version I have had to do this several times as the Shortcut keeps disappearing from my Desktop and I have to manually recreate it only a day or so later to find the Shortcut has once again disappeared.. Any ideas as to fixing this?
It would be best if during programme update the option to create a Desktop Option was shown, -
RE: Opera not showing in Windows 10 Start Menu List of AppsOpera for Windows
I had already executed both of the 2 suggestions above. I did a very detailed search of help page several times (in past weeks) before I posted my comment.
One further query when I update Opera versions it does not remove from (x86 programmes) the earlier files so I have to manually delete those superceded folders.

Opera not showing in Windows 10 Start Menu List of AppsOpera for Windows
When I install other programmes they subsequently appear in Windows Start Menu List of Apps (in alphabetical order) with name and icon. This includes a rival browser Mozilla Firefox. Opera does not so I have to go into Explorer select Opera.exe then create a short-cut and place it on the desktop. Why does Opera not follow the installation protocol of other programmes? I once tried "pin to side bar" but that then showed opera outside the Apps tiles. I cannot see any "fix" under Opera Help. Guidance please. Also to reach this forum I had to go on Google and type search Opera forums. Could a link to Opera Forums not be included as an icon on Opera Start page?

Sorting within Bookmarks FoldersOpera for Windows
I have several different Folders within Bookmarks e.g Computing, Family , Work Related etc.
I cannot find a method of maintaining an alphabetical sort within each folder.
e.g Under Computing I want Life Hacker to show within the F section not at the first position,
Can someone guide me how to achieve this alphabetical sort?
thanks

Default Folder for DownloadsOpera for Windows
I am on version Opera 43.0.2442.806 using Windows 10 Anniversary Update edition.
In Settings I have specified where I want my downloads to be saved e.g
"C;/Users/Neil /Downloads" This approach is advised per Opera Help .Despite this each time I make a download it goes automatically to "This PC /Downloads" which means I then have to transfer it to C:/Users/Neil etc.
Suggestions please
thanks
Neil
