a followup..

a reinstall and replacing just a basic files did the job (mail, bookmarks, contacts, wand etc..) as far as I could tell the problem was caused by a file from User CSS directory, eg: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera x64\styles\user
couldn't tell which one though..

@herrpietrus: I'm using it as a browser, mail, feed agent prog so 20 is not that good of an option 🙂
