RE: #scrollable-tab-strip enabled but not working/crashing browserOpera GX
@leocg ya I completely forgot how it got there if I enabled it some how or it just came with scrollable tabstrip somehow
-
RE: #scrollable-tab-strip enabled but not working/crashing browserOpera GX
@leocg no no like there is scrollable tabstrip which allows the scrolling of tabs when there are too many and then there is a horizontal scroll bar like the vertical ones on webpages (I provided example image below) you can see the horizontal scroll bar for the tabs on the most top part

RE: #scrollable-tab-strip enabled but not working/crashing browserOpera GX
@leocg that makes sense and I wish I could use the regular opera but its stuck in an endless cycle of me opening it and it freezing after a couple a seconds that I tried to fix with the help of the people on the forum but nothing worked.
Do you happen to know how to activate the tab scroller on the top of the tabs? I did it a long time ago I think on the opera browser but I dont know what its called or where it is to re-enable it.

RE: #scrollable-tab-strip enabled but not working/crashing browserOpera GX
@leocg but wasnt this working perfectly fine not too long ago? Because I used gx a bit ago but then switched to regular opera but now its not even working for me so I would like to switch to gx but since the scrollable tabstrip isnt working its just not possible.
Its just weird cuz so many people online just say they enabled it and stuff and it just works (like it should and how it does in regular opera) so I was just wondering if thats like a normal thing.

#scrollable-tab-strip enabled but not working/crashing browserOpera GX
I'm using Opera GX and have enabled #scrollable-tab-strip in the flags and I restart it and then go into the browser settings and look for the "Enable tab scrolling when many tabs are open" option and go to enable it but it immediately crashes the browser and restarts but the setting doesnt retain and its an endless loop.
Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 ya I renamed the regular Opera folder and ya im pretty sure it was closed but I already just uninstalled opera (with user settings) and just started fresh with my bookmarked tabs and passwords and stuff and its working fine again (I haven't signed in yet) so we'll see how long that lasts I guess
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 wait I dont know what I did wrong I renamed it to the old thing and it recreated the folder but when I launch opera again it loads up everything like how it was (including the freezing part) but when I renamed it last time it started fresh?
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 yeah ok I will try this later tonight when I'm home if it's not the fix I will cry and just scrap opera
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 I do remember doing that earlier, I changed the name to Opera old and then started fresh which then worked so I thought it was good and that was the problem but then it stopped working all of a sudden.
So now I was thinking the whole thing is corrupted or I gotta restart fresh (the folder renaming) but then not sign in my account because maybe it's messed up or something ya know?

RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 unfortunately I deleted both of these folders and then I launched it again and it did the same thing, both folders reappeared and the extensions did too.
Do you think its worth it to try uninstalling literally everything related to opera on my pc with a program like revo uninstaller or something then reinstall?

RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 ok I dont know what to do anymore it was working perfectly fine I had all my extensions minus one of them so I thought it was good to go and it was for however long it was since when I said it fixed up until yesterday when it stopped working.
The problem I still have too is I cant even tell which extension(s) are messing it up because when I delete them opera just re-installs every single one of them when I launch which I dont get why they do that.
Do you have any final recommendations for me like should I ditch that opera profile entirely or am I just trying to cope too much and should give up on opera

RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@ShadowMine The extensions are in the roaming folder in appdata at least for my OperaGX in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable\Extensions. Thats where my extensions are listed.
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 Ya ok I did that and it seems to be fine with all the same extensions and such, that'll have to do I guess
, very weird thing to have happened. Thank you very much for all your help

RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 Oh ok I didnt know it was that easy
and thats like a fresh fresh start like tabs and passwords and stuff? Just wondering cuz I think thats all that is important and I backed those up.
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 Ok I did all that and still nothing
do you think the best route is just starting new with an actual fresh install because I did save all my open tabs with the speed dial thing and exported them to an html file (which I tested on the standalone btw and it works fine although I havent opened all them in the workspaces and I know that contributes to pc load aka the "lag" it might be causing)
Anyway the problem with starting new is I dont know how I'd go about that considering when I did both a reinstall and a whole uninstall then reinstall they both didnt work and still lagged afterwards.
My thoughts are it has to do with my profile or something in my files being corrupted and thats causing an issue. I guess im down to fresh restart even tho I would take a long time to get everything back in order I just dont know how
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 Ok so I tested the bookmarks on the standalone and it doesnt lag it at all.
I also did the history file deletion and it sadly did nothing
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 Ok that sounds good I will back them up first before deleting the file. I also tried the sync off and it did nothing as well as the deleting the history and browsing data in the browser.
-
RE: Opera freeze when startupOpera GX
@burnout426 I just could never understand, could it really just stop working randomly cuz of my bookmarks (I have a ton) because it was literally perfect before.
Also ya I was thinkin of that history file stuff but I was just concerned with it erasing some of my current tabs, it wont do that right?
I will try the sync thing too cuz I also heard that one.
