Running LTS Mint and can not update to the latest Opera due to missing dependency, to wit libgcc-s1 less than 3.0. Attempting to install libgcc-s1_10.3.0-1ubuntu1_20.04_amd64 .deb runs into another dependency. The solution here, obviously, is to remove Opera. I'll miss it. Maybe they'll fix it.
I can wait and see. Otherwise, switch to Vivaldi or Brave.

RE: Missing dependency: libgcc-s1Opera for Linux
@jimmy704 - I noticed that snap installed Opera 89.0.4447.71 lingers at launch. It doesn't come up as quickly as the unupdateable version it replaced. The Brave browser is quicker.

RE: Missing dependency: libgcc-s1Opera for Linux
@styen - An alternative to *.deb is canonical's snap installer. Like the rpm installer, this possibility has to be found somewhere on Opera's website. Although snap is forbidden by default in Mint 20, I'm running an earlier LTS version which hasn't got it but permitted installation of snap and then download and installation of Opera via snap installer:

Installing snap had to occur before the Opera install, which now has no missing dependencies. -
RE: Missing dependency: libgcc-s1Opera for Linux
@john-53 - Synaptic shows no results for libgcc-s or libgcc-9. Of the 4 you indicate, only libgcc1 appears, and that is as installed.

RE: Latest Update Broke the Opera UIOpera for Linux
@davidrmf - in version 71.0.3770.271 turning on hardware acceleration terminates the bizarre behavior of no apparent right mouse click and so forth.

RE: Opera misconfiguration persists after reinstallOpera for Linux
@leocg Deleting my ~/.config/opera folder did not get rid of the blank Settings page. I have switched to Opera developer and got rid of Opera-stable via "apt purge --autoremove opera-stable". If I'm inclined to try Opera stable again I'll download it. Fresh start.

RE: Opera misconfiguration persists after reinstallOpera for Linux
@jimunderscorep Thank you. I'll reset it. Re-customizing it will be irritating. As for bookmarks, Bookmarks Import & Export by Martin Sermak is an extension for Opera. I find that it works, although the Export and Import processes ignore nested folders, so nested folders are flattened and saved as regular folders.

Opera misconfiguration persists after reinstallOpera for Linux
Better address bar disappeared from flags, but typing lagged anyway, so I disabled pretty much everything in flags. This ended the typing lag, but now I get a blank page for settings. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Opera, but I still am denied access to settings - also bookmarks. Is there a way in Linux Mint 18.3 to get up to date Opera to forget it has ever been installed?
