@jimmy704 - I noticed that snap installed Opera 89.0.4447.71 lingers at launch. It doesn't come up as quickly as the unupdateable version it replaced. The Brave browser is quicker.

RE: Missing dependency: libgcc-s1Opera for Linux
@styen - An alternative to *.deb is canonical's snap installer. Like the rpm installer, this possibility has to be found somewhere on Opera's website. Although snap is forbidden by default in Mint 20, I'm running an earlier LTS version which hasn't got it but permitted installation of snap and then download and installation of Opera via snap installer:
https://snapcraft.io/opera
https://snapcraft.io/docs/installing-snap-on-linux-mint
Installing snap had to occur before the Opera install, which now has no missing dependencies. -
RE: Missing dependency: libgcc-s1Opera for Linux
@john-53 - Synaptic shows no results for libgcc-s or libgcc-9. Of the 4 you indicate, only libgcc1 appears, and that is as installed.

Missing dependency: libgcc-s1Opera for Linux
Running LTS Mint and can not update to the latest Opera due to missing dependency, to wit libgcc-s1 less than 3.0. Attempting to install libgcc-s1_10.3.0-1ubuntu1_20.04_amd64 .deb runs into another dependency. The solution here, obviously, is to remove Opera. I'll miss it. Maybe they'll fix it.
I can wait and see. Otherwise, switch to Vivaldi or Brave. -

RE: Opera misconfiguration persists after reinstallOpera for Linux
@leocg Deleting my ~/.config/opera folder did not get rid of the blank Settings page. I have switched to Opera developer and got rid of Opera-stable via "apt purge --autoremove opera-stable". If I'm inclined to try Opera stable again I'll download it. Fresh start.

RE: Opera misconfiguration persists after reinstallOpera for Linux
@jimunderscorep Thank you. I'll reset it. Re-customizing it will be irritating. As for bookmarks, Bookmarks Import & Export by Martin Sermak is an extension for Opera. I find that it works, although the Export and Import processes ignore nested folders, so nested folders are flattened and saved as regular folders.

Opera misconfiguration persists after reinstallOpera for Linux
Better address bar disappeared from flags, but typing lagged anyway, so I disabled pretty much everything in flags. This ended the typing lag, but now I get a blank page for settings. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Opera, but I still am denied access to settings - also bookmarks. Is there a way in Linux Mint 18.3 to get up to date Opera to forget it has ever been installed?

[Solved]WCRB won't playOpera for Linux
WCRB - classical radio Boston - streams music. This used to work in Opera, but now none of the streams will load. It says "loading" forever, so it doesn't play. This forces me to use Chrome, where "loading" flashes by and the streams are available. Edge also loads and permits playing the music. It doesn't matter - Linux or Windows - Opera's misbehavior is the same. Probably Mac as well.

Get rid of extensionOpera for Windows
I'm trying to uninstall-delete-remove ADBLOCKPLUS, an extension for Opera. It is easy to to this in Chrome - you just click on the trash can to the right of the extension. That's not there in Opera. I looked around and found nothing. After deleting the extension's folder didn't work, I uninstalled and reinstalled Opera a couple of times. ADBLOCKPLUS is still there, grayed out, in extensions. Someone knows a way. I beg the one who knows to tell me how to do it. Please.

I am bitching about yet another email program's demise - the death of opera mail. Bitch bitch bitch.

RE: POP3 email account and wandOpera for Windows
Well, O.K. - I can't hope that Opera Mail isn't a jive. Since it's (http://www.opera.com/computer/mail) still there this induces cognitive dissonance. Overcoming that, I can try accepting that Opera Mail is abandonware. Thunderbird https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ isn't abandonware, but it doesn't import from Opera Mail. Maybe I'll just Outlook Express all my old email into oblivion as a much quicker solution than figuring an import method.

RE: Hanging at APOpera for Windows
With that extension disabled, I can still encounter a freeze, but not gobs of them as before. I just added 360 Internet Protection to Chrome to see if that gets me freezes on the AP site.

RE: Hanging at APOpera for Windows
Thanks for asking. Yes I do:
https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/360-internet-protection/
I will try disabling it and see if the freezes at AP cease. If so, I will report having trouble with this extension.

Hanging at APOpera for Windows
After browsing the news items briefly at http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/fronts/RAW?SITE=AP (maybe only one article, but usually several) Opera the reloading circle twirls when I click the back arrow and twirls and twirls. I can close the tab or shut it down to end the hang. This does not happen in Chrome Version 42.0.2311.152 m (64-bit). I've sort of eliminated malware and outdated drivers, which indicates that Opera isn't dealing with the AP site correctly.
Version: 29.0.1795.47 - Opera is up to date
Update stream: Stable
System: Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)
