The time for mourning has already passed. I though we were all over it. Presto will not become open source in any foreseeable future, but Vivaldi is in development and the most important parts, except for mail, are already there. It's already much more useful than this new "Opera" is now or will ever be (its devs are not planning on making it useful), so, yeah, move on, buddy.

RE: "Manual" Opera link. Is this possible?Opera for Windows
Thank you
Unfortunately, the new "Opera" doesn't even support the things I need to transfer here so it's not an option. Vivaldi should be up and going properly in no time (it's already great), so there is home on the horizon for all the Opera orphans.EDIT:
Unfortunately, info provided on that site doesn't really match the last Opera version, however it was useful enough to backup most things. I'm not sure only about search words, or howevers it's properly used, though my notes are secure for sure. -
"Manual" Opera link. Is this possible?Opera for Windows
Hi, I've been using Opera for years and I've grown very used to simplicity and smooth functionality of Opera Link. It saddens me that Opera did not survive on the market but inability to sync my myriad search engines and notes will be a very practical, immediate issue for me.
Is there a way to manually imitate Opera Link's functionality? Can I simply copy settings files from my basic installation to any new one I'll make in the future? Would something like that be possible? If so, which files would I need to transfer?

RE: Source for Opera's 51 million desktop users in Q4 2013?Opera for Windows
Desktop Opera users:
20M: I'm sticking with Opera 12;
1M: I'm happily using the new Opera 15+;
30M: Oh, I thought it was that Chromyfox or Fire Chrome or whatever.

PS.
I had to use Firefox to edit this post. Opera couldn't handle it. -
RE: New number appearing in Opera 12.14 Window frame "1243:702"Opera for Windows
Btw, happily using 12.14 until new Opera adds equivalent features
I don't want to disappoint you but they are not planning to add most of the features that brought us to Opera. -
RE: Opera 12.17Opera for Windows
No changelog? Strange. I came here looking for it but there doesn't seem to be any even in depths of this place, not to mention accessible places that are used by 95% of people.
Not going to look a gifted horse in its mouth, though. Thanks, devs, for the update, even though I don't know what it did. Nothing seems to have change so i'll assume that it's security-related.
When you go under, please make Opera Presto open source. You'll be bankrupt anyway and the community will make magic with it. I'm sure of that.

RE: Is tab-stacking ever comming back?Opera for Windows
@up
I have 40-50 tabs open all the time and that's why I need tab stacking so much. It requires 2-2,5GB of RAM and I'm absolutely ok with it. The same set of tabs requires only 1,5GB in Firefox but it's really not a problem with modern computers. RAM is cheap.The problem with the old Opera is that it gets incompatible with everything around, flash being the top issue. Every now and then something gets crazy and something like that happened to youtube and embedded videos after the latest flash update. At least on my machine. When I try to watch any youtube videos, Opera's use of RAM spikes to over 14GB. I use the "click to activate the thingy" function (don't remember how it was called in english and don't want to come up with an even sillier translation) function so it doesn't bother me in normal activity, all the same, youtube has just joined the ever-growing list of sites incompatible with Opera 12.
I'm extremely unwilling to switch browsers but it seems that opera's devs, teamed up with the universe, are hell-bent on forcing me to do it.

Is tab-stacking ever comming back?Opera for Windows
Hi,
I bet this had already been discussed many times but all I was able to find was very outdated info. My question is simple: is tab-stacking ever coming back? And if it is, when can I expect it to be reintroduced?
I'm aware that most things I've been using for the past decade are gone for good (definable search phrases, irc, mail, purging junk files without removing everything else etc) but only tab-stacking is an absolute must for me.I had tried Opera 16 (a disaster) and also installed Opera 19. It still lacks tab stacking so the browser is still simply useless for me. What I saw after launching it was a row of tiny squares on the top of my screen, a limited screen because of an always visible bookmarks tab. I was unable to disable it in any other way than permanently by using the browser's settings page...
But again I'm starting to complain about this new fancy browser that by some strange accident is also called Opera
Is there a hope for me or will I have to finally find some time to migrate somewhere else from Opera 12? It's been eating up to 12GB of RAM on youtube since the latest update of Flash... -
RE: Here are some suggestions for those looking for alternatives to Opera 12 (and use Opera Mail)Opera for Windows
^ and ^^
I've just spent a coffee break on trying to make FF work like Opera. I tried to install those Tab Utilities, but the newest version seems to be incompatible with the latest firefox and the one I downloaded, a little older version, just made all my tabs flicker and no content is displayed in any of them. Lovely.Will try Waterfox as son as I have several hours of spare time. It's good to know that there is something that will bring my Speed Dial, aka the most important bookmarks. Firefox just puts random content in its Speed Dial substitute. I bet there is logic behind it but I still need to discover it.

RE: Here are some suggestions for those looking for alternatives to Opera 12 (and use Opera Mail)Opera for Windows
Hey, Salahuddin1
I tried to contact you through private msg system but it requires some kind of an account I'm unable to create... Hope you'll read this.Could you list the addons you used with SeaMonkey? Two years ago or so I tried to recreate Opera in Firefox but I failed miserably. All I got was a slow browser with a lot of lacking addons, and extremely prone to crashing. You boast of success
As for now, I'm clinging to Opera 12 and cannot waste a whole day (it's how much time it took last time) to recreate Opera's functionality somewhere else. I don't know much about this stuff mainly because for over a decade, Opera was all I needed, and both vanilla Chrome and Firefox seem extremely lacking in all areas. I've been using them lately for websites that do not work properly with Opera 12 anymore and I'm more than disappointed. I need a browser with integrated mail client, STACKABLE TABS!!!, speed dial and preferably a RSS and IRC clients.
I've never heard of this SeaMonkey and if it really works like Opera, I could finally arrange an official funeral-uninstallation with candles, weeping women and a grim priest. The old friend deserves it.
PS.
I also tried the new "opera" and I don't even want to talk about it. At least devs had the decency not to name that bastard child a direct successor of Opera 12.
