Finally had time to try again. This time I deleted every last bit of Opera I was able to find and delete from my computer. I did not remove any registry entries though. Removals included what was in my Appdata\Local folder and the .opera file that was in Users<user> folder. I had to rename Opera Software in my Appdata\Roaming folder. Even running as Administrator there were files Windows said I didn't have permission to delete. I then rebooted my computer, made sure Brave wasn't running, and installed Opera. This time it finally worked. No more issues of not being able to open my profile. Of course I've lost everything. I have an older exported bookmark.html file from May that I can restore to recover old bookmarks I've saved, but will have lost any newer ones. All of my settings are gone, so I'll have to figure all of that out again. I wonder if this was caused by some sort of weird conflict with Brave. I've never had anything like this happen before. Thank you for your help.

RE: Opera on Windows 11 won't open profile, have tried everythingOpera for Windows
@burnout426 I haven't tried standalone installation. Have limited time to mess with this over the next few days, but will try it when I can. I have already renamed the entire Opera Software folder in Roaming and reinstalled. Haven't tried renaming the folder in Local. Didn't know about that one. Will try that too when I have time.

Opera on Windows 11 won't open profile, have tried everythingOpera for Windows
I hope someone can help me. I've been using Opera for a very long time on Windows 11. Last night I installed Brave to check it out and let it import settings from Opera. Opera was open at the time and running fine. Today I noticed in Opera that it had done an automatic update, so I clicked the option to let Opera restart to complete the update. Ever since then Opera can't open my profile. I tried rebooting my laptop. I've tried uninstalling Brave, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Opera. I tried installing an older version of Opera. I've tried renaming the Users\L<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable folder so it would create a new one. I tried disabling Eset which I use as my antivirus and firewall software. None of this has fixed the problem of Opera not opening my profile. I am the Windows administrator. I run Opera without logging into my account. In fact until I needed to post, I did not have an account. Everything was local and not synced to an account. This has left Opera unusable for me. Is there any way to fix this?

RE: Lost all my browser tabs after forced update and reboot.General
Same thing just happened to me. Opera did an automatic update. I clicked to restart opera and when it started up I got message after message stating that it could not open my profile. Had to keep closing the messages before Opera finally opened. Everything is gone. My active tabs, settings, and speed dials. Not happy!
