UPDATE: As been demonstrated in a new thread, Flash video problems never end, the first option might not resolve the case anymore. However, a new solution was suggested by @natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk

According to my calculations, this is now the eighteenth case concerning Flash problems when it comes to the Opera browser. I have Chromium as my backup browser, and I can tell you, no such problem has ever been encountered!

Yeah, but I'm afraid GNOME Shell integration is one of them...

I'd need to install GNOME Shell integration (available for Chrome at least: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/gnome shell integration) and User Themes (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/19/user-themes/), but it seems that this those aren't available to Opera — by default at least.

Having run Chromium before, there were no problems installing various GNOME extension via the browser. With Opera, however, it seems I've crashed into a brick wall.

The extensions I'd like to install are many. Dash to Dock, Hide Activities Button, No Topleft Hot Corner, Frippery Move Clock, Impatience, Topicons Redux, KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator Support, Pixel Saver, Sound percentage, just to name a few.

However, none of this is possible without GNOME Shell integration or User Themes, something that doesn't seem to be supporter by Opera, though. So what are my shots? My only chance is to switch to another browser, like Chromium?

I don't think so, and I hope you guys can help me out on that!

@zalex108 I've been now testing Group Your Tabs, but it isn't quite what I was looking for. See, I do have many tabs open, but usually they are from various different websites and domains; the only thing in common is the theme. For example, when you are making Google searches and you right click many prominent websites open into a new tab, that's the kind of organizing / grouping I need in my work - and a lot.

Even an empty tab in all it's simplicity would serve my needs perfectly! But Opera has changed empty tabs to Speed dial, and everytime I boot my system, the Speed dial tabs close

(19) None of the versions of Opera runs a site with flash even in the block exception list, and (20) Opera updated to 49 and now having flash player problems.

This is a result of a throughout and systematic investigation, not just some random sample. The earliest posts date back to 2014/12/03, and the newest one to 2017/11/27

@msxmaniac I ran /usr/bin/google-chrome-unstable --disable-bundled-ppapi-flash --always-authorize-plugins --allow-outdated-plugins --ppapi-in-process --enable-nacl --ppapi-flash-path=/usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so --ppapi-flash-version=28.0.0.105 via Terminal. This is the output I receive:

bash: /usr/bin/google-chrome-unstable: No such file or directory

Any ideas...? Did I do something wrong, perhaps...?

Opera should use Flash that is installed on your system.

Use Debian Buster (Testing). I have Flash in all browsers. I do not have flash in Opera.

@Guest @leocg Unfortunately the Opera browser does not come with any pre-installed Flash of its own. There's a summary on the reported cases concerning the Flash compatibility problems with Opera, and so far the total count is eighteen cases.

You might want to try the latest instructions provided by @natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk perhaps? Just let me know if it works, we'll work something out!
