is one of them...
Greetings!
I'd need to install GNOME Shell integration
(available for Chrome at least: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/gnome shell integration) and User Themes
(https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/19/user-themes/), but it seems that this those aren't available to Opera — by default at least.
Having run Chromium before, there were no problems installing various GNOME extension via the browser. With Opera, however, it seems I've crashed into a brick wall.
The extensions I'd like to install are many. Dash to Dock
, Hide Activities Button
, No Topleft Hot Corner
, Frippery Move Clock
, Impatience
, Topicons Redux
, KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator Support
, Pixel Saver
, Sound percentage
, just to name a few.
However, none of this is possible without GNOME Shell integration
or User Themes
, something that doesn't seem to be supporter by Opera, though. So what are my shots? My only chance is to switch to another browser, like Chromium?
I don't think so, and I hope you guys can help me out on that!
Cheers!
@zalex108 I've been now testing Group Your Tabs
, but it isn't quite what I was looking for. See, I do have many tabs open, but usually they are from various different websites and domains; the only thing in common is the theme. For example, when you are making Google searches and you right click many prominent websites open into a new tab, that's the kind of organizing / grouping I need in my work - and a lot.
Even an empty tab in all it's simplicity would serve my needs perfectly! But Opera has changed empty tabs to Speed dial, and everytime I boot my system, the Speed dial tabs close
(19) None of the versions of Opera runs a site with flash even in the block exception list, and (20) Opera updated to 49 and now having flash player problems.
This is a result of a throughout and systematic investigation, not just some random sample. The earliest posts date back to 2014/12/03, and the newest one to 2017/11/27
@zalex108 Thanks chap! I wasn't quite aware of that! Let me keep trying from this stand, I'll let you know!
Cheers!
Up to my count, this is now the twentieth case report concerning the compatibility issues with Flash and Opera. There has been introduced a late resolution attempt by @natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk at the aforementioned link. I hope that works out for you folks!

@msxmaniac I ran /usr/bin/google-chrome-unstable --disable-bundled-ppapi-flash --always-authorize-plugins --allow-outdated-plugins --ppapi-in-process --enable-nacl --ppapi-flash-path=/usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so --ppapi-flash-version=28.0.0.105
via Terminal
. This is the output I receive:
bash: /usr/bin/google-chrome-unstable: No such file or directory
Any ideas...? Did I do something wrong, perhaps...?

@ said in New user Debian - Flash - Licence - Devices - Report:
Opera should use Flash that is installed on your system.
Use Debian Buster (Testing). I have Flash in all browsers. I do not have flash in Opera.
@Guest @leocg Unfortunately the Opera browser does not come with any pre-installed Flash of its own. There's a summary on the reported cases concerning the Flash compatibility problems with Opera, and so far the total count is eighteen cases.
You might want to try the latest instructions provided by @natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk perhaps? Just let me know if it works, we'll work something out!
Cheers!
UPDATE: As been demonstrated in a new thread, Flash video problems never end, the first option might not resolve the case anymore. However, a new solution was suggested by @natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk
DOWNLOAD: https://github.com/iteufel/nwjs-ffmpeg-prebuilt/releases/download/0.20.3/0.20.3-linux-x64.zip
EXTRACT: "0.20.3/0.20.3-linux-x64.zip" as "libffmpeg.so"
RENAME: "/usr/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/libffmpeg.so" to "/usr/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/libffmpeg.so_orig"
COPY: "~/Downloads/libffmpeg.so" to "/usr/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/"
According to my calculations, this is now the eighteenth case concerning Flash problems when it comes to the Opera browser. I have Chromium
as my backup browser, and I can tell you, no such problem has ever been encountered!
Here are the three most recent cases after the fifteen, when this thread was originally composed: (16) Flash video problems never end, (17) New user Debian - Flash - Licence - Devices - Report, and (18) Flash player not work in Last opera stable and developer
My second question, I just noticed that you referred to a post made in May 20, 2017. That answered my question already, thanks @natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk
@natasha-from-dnepropetrovsk Thanks for your instructions, and sorry for my stupid question that I will ask now.
I am beginner with Linux. I was trying to find the folder /usr/lib64/opera/
, but I could not find anything that is exactly the same. However, I was able to find the following one: /usr/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera
. Is this the same, maybe?
My second question, do I have to follow all the instructions at https://solus-project.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1004 (post by mk6ve, Thu Jan 14, 2016 11:50 am), or is it enough to that I do what you wrote here?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers, and have I nice weekend!
@zalex108 Thanks a lot! Got to have a try on those! OneTab seems to be a Chrome / Chromium equivalent for the Opera OnlyTab, isn't tat correct? Hmm, it gives me the following output:
This extension is only supported in Opera 11 and 12. Download anyway
Does it work still nice and smooth with the latest version of Opera? Any experience, anybody...?
Cheers mates!
@rudrick No, I don't wipe any of my profile before or after the reboot.
@rudrick It is what it is, but the tabs still do close whenever I boot my system. Besides, if Speed Dial is not an empty tab, shouldn't it remain intact like any other non-empty tab?
Cheers mate!
@michaelbr Hi there! Have you enabled your file browser to show hidden files (Files > Home > View > Show Hidden Files)?
@leocg As far as I have understood, Opera development is on the maintenance mode at the moment. Therefore, major improvements are very unlikely to happen.

Greetings,
Taking a quick look at the Suggestion box, the presence of Opera staff seems to be almost inexistent in the threads. Therefore, I'd be nice to know if someone from Opera is actually reading the posts.
At times, it feels like the forum is just a relief valve for the users where to chitchat with each other.
Cheers!
