I've spent countless hours reading online posts about this and trying all kinds or esoteric suggestions. Why does this just not work?

If I manually go add the passwords then they work but Opera never prompts me to save them when I'm actually logging in.

It seems trivial but over time this has become frustrating. Every other browser in the world does this seamlessly.

Is there a way to make it work? Nothing I've read so far helps.

@joyceeariel This is a great idea. I hope Opera implements it.
I ended up just deactivating sidebar. I love the convenience it provides but the occasional convenience does not outweigh the constant interruption as I wait for the sidebar to open and close when I accidently touch it with the mouse. A delay would be wonderful. An option to open it with a deliberate click on some control would be even better.

I know when I want the sidebar. Let me choose.
