I have got a problem that seems to have started after I tried to uninstall an old version of Opera. I am not certain it has anything to do with Opera or the failed uninstall, but so far it's my best guess.
I checked and found that I had three versions of Opera installed. I kept the latest, updated version (30.0), but tried to uninstall the two others (13.something and 12.16), using the Programs and Features uninstall menu in Windows 7. Uninstalling 13.something (I have forgotten the exact number of that one) worked, but when I tried to uninstall 12.16, the computer pretty much locked up for several minutes, and eventually I got a Windows error saying I didn't have enough memory to perform that task.
I have the 64-bit version of Windows 7, and I believe the version 12.16 of Opera was also a 64-bit version, which I tried at some point. It didn't work properly, and I am guessing that could be the reason why the uninstall failed. But I haven't tried to simply delete the folder.
The real problem is this: After I did these uninstalls, all my web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera 30) suddenly stop being able to connect at some point after I have been online for a while. I know, it sounds more like a connection problem than anything else, but I believe my internet connection is working like it should. I start the computer, go online, then after a while (1 hour, 2, 8 or more) I suddenly can't connect anywhere, in any browser. I restart the computer, and then it works again. I have done a virus check, but didn't find anything wrong.
Is it possible that the failed uninstall of the 64-bit Opera 12.16 has botched up something in Windows that could affect all web browsers?
