RE: From Opera 12 to 20...a giant leap back for mankindOpera for Windows
This may be petty but I refuse to let it go that pesala thinks the title of this thread is sarcastic.
The title is: "From Opera 12 to 20...a giant leap back for mankind". Please notice the word "back". You may not be reading the 11 word title sufficiently. Either that, or you may not be working with a correct definition of sarcasm. I know you don't like 700 word posts but 11 words...
And leushino, thank you for the advice on continuing to use 12. I am doing exactly that. In fact, the only tab I use in 20 is for this forum. I just /love/ how fast and secure it manages Forums.Opera.com.

I'll try to have shorter posts for those who can't handle reading 700+ words. Are thoughts over 700 words not worth reading? (The forum should adopt that as a rule if it's a problem.)

My title is absolutely not sarcastic. Not sure how it is interpreted as such. This is not a flaming thread whatsoever, but I can see how it is aggravating (as shown by a few users) for anyone not only acceptive but advocating the omission of "Old Opera" functionality.

I, for one, and most all others here are not insulting anyone. Don't use blanket statements for those who come here express their opinion. I know you'd like to put all of us malcontents into a group but that's clearly unfair.

I'm very happy to be reminded that Opera 20 is still being developed. This only means that I'd like to share my opinion with even more vigor to ensure functionality isn't abandoned, but instead that it will be worked on because of user interest. If no one expresses this opinion, then the functionality could very well be abandoned.

I have flamed no one. In fact, I am now being told that Opera 20 is "A Step Too Far for Me", implying my inadequacy. I'm sorry it's come to that. I didn't mean to offend you, pesala.

Finally, the voicing of my opinion has a universally larger potential for change than those who only dictate to others to "stop whining". Talk about wasted breath, unnecessary posts, and a very strong indicator of the dictatorial nature of those posters.

RE: From Opera 12 to 20...a giant leap back for mankindOpera for Windows
It seems like the apologists for Opera 20 and where Opera is supposedly "going" continue to say the same. things. "Quit whining. Opera 12 is dead. You can't program, so shut up." The reality of the problem, because this is a real problem for many of us, isn't that we're inept. It's that the new browser is inept.
I'm grateful for posts made by tteksystems that articulate a little better why customer feedback is needed and should be sought after by the current Opera team. Please don't be side-tracked by silly squabbles involving those who may express negative opinions too harshly or with colorful language.
I started this thread to express my tremendous disappointment in the lack of nearly everything that made Opera what it was pre-"New Opera", and to encourage others to do the same. If my "whining" is bothersome to you, please, go make your own thread about how pioneering and cutting-edge the "New Opera" is. It may make /you/ feel better. I am attempting this outlet because /I/ don't feel well about the current state of the Opera browser.

RE: From Opera 12 to 20...a giant leap back for mankindOpera for Windows
It just makes me so. sad. I know that some features are dropped from software as it is developed further but with the advent of Opera 20 I'm suddenly and completely lost. After further use of Opera 20 I find that there really isn't a way to do the many things I've done with Opera for over a decade.
The Settings page for Opera is shockingly short. I was flabbergasted at how little control there was when right clicking to adjust my Appearance. I felt like I was using Chrome or Firefox where I didn't know where to go to change anything. Finding out that there WASN'T a way to modify what I wanted was depressing.

From Opera 12 to 20...a giant leap back for mankindOpera for Windows
Made an account to express my disappointment in the changes from Opera 12 to 20. Been with Opera as my primary browser since 2001. It has always lagged behind other browsers in site compatibility, but I've always dealt with it because of the amazing customization that Opera offers.
Opera 20 is incomplete and can't be used by "Opera users". If you love 20 and consider yourself to be an "Opera user", you must use Opera like other people use Firefox or Chrome. People who want a fast browser I'm sure will love this version. But like many others who have said it already: Opera will not survive without the features that have defined the browser for so many years.
And before anyone can tell me to "go back to 12 and shut up!", I'll say this: the lagging behind in compatibility is becoming increasingly distracting in 12. 12 has been abandoned and it now seems Opera was also abandoned in 20 as well.
P.S. If 20 is being developed to again give the user control over their browser then I assume 20 can be great. I hope this is the case. I just hope I don't have to wait a couple years to get back just a little of the functionality of previous versions of Opera.
