Very odd decision. I'm all for simplicity on small screens. But what's the point in having a universe that allows data to sync between all devices if you can't access most of the shared data on some devices? I logged into my opera account on the device and watched as it showed me how many bookmarks (from my desktop computer) were now synced. And then ... I can't even browse then. What's with that? ‍️

@robinmaxi Wish I could help. But I didn't find a solution. So ended up adding all back manually

You could be right. Although I can't fathom why extension data would be encrypted in that way.

In any case it's now looking like something more complex at work. Overwriting extension-related support files with those from an earlier system backup makes no difference. But that's minor compared with the latest, which is that I manually re-added a bunch of extensions last night, and this morning they're gone! Along with one or two other settings tweaks I did yesterday.

Which raises the thought that it might all be related to a wider system permissions issue I'm having

I can't figure out if it's possible to restore extensions after a problem. I have a good Time Machine backup and I'm signed into the account sync service too.

The latter works well as far as bookmarks go. But it doesn't seem to store extensions. Time Machine has multiple versions of ~/Library/Application Support/com.operasoftware.Opera/ <several folders and files to do with extensions>. So I thought surely the extensions would be retrievable from there.

I had a drive failure recently. I restored my Time Machine data to my new computer. Opera has all its bookmarks. But no sign of the extensions. I then tried re-restoring the extension related data manually from the backup (see previous paragraph). Still no extensions.

Am I to understand they're gone for good?
