There have been a lot of great Opera products that have vanished such as the webmail, My Opera, Opera Portal, and features that have been taken away. I'm creating this topic to help support in bringing them back. Opera is my favorite browser, and I always look forward to the next updates. While I understand that the browser is meant to stay clean and very easy to use, I think that a lot of the old features would still work great.
More Support for the Sidebar
I understand that this feature was probably taken out to give Opera a more clean look, but I think the sidebar feature would work great for Opera, because Chrome doesn't even have one, it clutters too much space with Maxthon and Edge, and it's tricky managing bookmarks with Firefox's sidebar. Having bookmarks, history, downloads, and other extensions all on the side is very useful.
Previously, there was was a way to add a lot more customization. There was the option to add buttons to the toolbar, tell which panels to show, and the option to change the skin. From my experience, this gave Opera more customization features available than any other browser. These things are in other browsers as well, but Opera had the largest selection. There were multiple categories for buttons to put on the toolbar? That was fantastic. It sold Opera very well.
Having the status bar was another very useful feature. It was used for basic shortcuts like opening and closing the sidebar, quick zooming, and for toggling quick adjustments. For people who are unfamiliar with keyboard shortcuts or mouse gestures, it was a good way to save time from managing those tasks in the menu.
And so, I hope to see Opera bring back these features. I love everything else about it, and I think this change would be great for everyone and would bring a lot more people forward. If you are for this request, then please leave your response to help patrician. Thank you.
