I've waited long enough for this regression to be reverted, but enough is enough. Wtf is this? Is this to imply an exodus of all devs from using Opera?

Corrupt profile or bad settings? Github stuck in dark modeOpera GX
I've set Windows 11 to light mode, disabled Dark Reader, tried both Auto and Light mode in GX settings and Github's settings, and deleted Github's LocalStorage/cookies. Other sites that detect system theme such as Youtube switch properly, only Github seems stuck, even in Private mode. What finally fixed it was renaming the GX profile folder, and Light mode works in a new profile.
Is this a corrupt profile? Or is there some setting I can change to easily fix this?

RE: [Request] keyboard shortcut for "Open Video Popout"Opera GX
Just back here to say thanks for the patch (GX now has pop-out feature as Opera)

[Regression] Keyboard shortcuts are no longer consistently registeringOpera GX
This may be a chromium regression upstream but istfg it's not me going crazy, recently keyboard shortcuts have not been consistent. Just now, I pressed <kbd>Space</kbd> on Youtube and it scrolled down the page, then I immediately pressed it again without touching anything else and it paused the video, wtffffffffffff!!!!!!
I swear it is happening for all shortcuts, including things like ctrlW and ctrlT and custom-set shortcuts where it won't work the first time, wtf is going on?

[Request] keyboard shortcut for "Open Video Popout"Opera GX
Can we get a configurable keyboard shortcut for the popout, so we don't have to fiddle with getting that little icon to show itself?
I found that Opera has it pop out automatically when switching to another tab. Opera GX has the flag for this feature, but somehow it's worse than Opera - it makes the scrub bar disappear, among other bugs that make it unusable.

RE: Speed dial hiding labels >:(Opera GX
@sgunhouse Thank you. I'm certain that I didn't mess with this setting... was it set by a version upgrade?
-
Speed dial hiding labels >:(Opera GX
Worst. "Feature". Ever.
Please explain how you came to the conclusion that this was a good idea.
Is it to make me do a linear mouse-over my "speed" dials to emulate O(n) behavior where n is the number of "speed" dials I have per domain?

RE: Opera adding bookmarks to speed dial all the timeOpera for Windows
@mgeffro said in Opera adding bookmarks to speed dial all the time:
- Make sure flag opera://flags/#partner-bookmarks-opt-out is enabled
- Go to opera:settings
- Disable 'Receive promoted Speed Dials and Bookmarks'
As of Opera 57.0, the description seems to switch the meaning of Enable/Disable:
Partner bookmarks opt-out option
Option which allows opting-out from receiving new partner bookmarks. – Mac, Windows, Linux
But the default is
[E]
, meaning everyone is opted out by default which seems impossible to me... is the wording of this option switched around to the opposite of the actual setting? -
RE: Complete the opera dark modeSuggestions and feature requests
@sgunhouse I tried the prototype bookmark manager just now, and found a couple more issues with it:
- Doesn't seem to have a list view (only thumbnail view)
- Trash folder takes a few clicks to render and there's no option to empty it
- the Search doesn't work but you guys probably already know that one
The dark theme looks awesome though, really looking forward to just that haha

"Show in folder" when searching for bookmarksSuggestions and feature requests
On Chromium, when searching for a bookmark in the bookmark manager, you can click the 3-dots next to the search result and click "Show in folder" to reveal where it was saved. Opera's bookmark manager does not seem to have any way to do this.
Reasons to have this feature:
-
When a bookmark is found by search but not in the folder I expect, there is no way to find out which folder it's actually in (other than to export bookmarks, import into Chromium, search for it there, reveal which folder it was in, then come back to Opera and manually click to that folder). Obviously you could just delete the bookmark and add it again, but then you'll never know where it actually was, it will forever be a mystery.
-
Sometimes I find a duplicate bookmark (usually from Imported bookmarks), so I want to keep the new one and delete the old imported one. But without being able to see the folder path of each bookmark, I don't know which one to delete.
Suggested solution:
There are currently two columns in the bookmark manager's search result: Description and URL. I would suggest adding a third column that contains the bookmark path. It would be read-only, and clicking it would take you to that folder.

"Bookmark all tabs" feature from ChromiumSuggestions and feature requests
The context menu when right-clicking on a tab in Chromium allows you to Bookmark all tabs. This displays a modal for you to type a folder name and choose where to save the bookmarks.
On Opera, the only option is to save to an untitled folder in Speed-dials.
Could we please also have the Chromium-like way of doing it as well?
The reason is that I used to just put up with having a bunch of folders at the bottom of my speed-dials, but even on a hexacore PC it lagged massively when dragging/dropping anything. I end up having to do clean-ups frequently where I'd move them all to "Other bookmarks". This wouldn't be a problem if I could've saved them where I wanted them from the start instead of letting them pile up into a mess.

RE: Complete the opera dark modeSuggestions and feature requests
+1 for dark bookmark manager, especially because extensions aren't allowed to modify it

RE: Dark Reader extension doesn't work on google.com with OperaOpera add-ons
@leocg Worked, thanks! Thought it was a regression, but was just a new feature... anyway, goodbye again Chrome, back to Opera!

RE: Dark Reader extension doesn't work on google.com with OperaOpera add-ons
@alexanderby hey thanks for confirming the problem with the update, and also thanks for your work on Dark Reader. I'm impressed how far it has come from the early days... even difficult sites look like they have a native dark theme now. It's gotten so good at handling all websites I frequently use that I don't even need to use Stylish anymore
I wasn't going to wait around for Opera to fix (or decide not to fix) their issue, and I don't want to work without dark pages, so I switched to Chrome yesterday... it's been a smooth transition, the only thing I really missed are keyboard shortcuts, but found an extension to solve that

RE: Dark Reader extension doesn't work on google.com with OperaOpera add-ons
@leocg could you please link me to a source for that?
The reason I think it was Opera doing the sniffing is because it logs this message in the dev console:
Opera has modified script or content on www.google.ca (PATCH-1269, Hide Chrome ad from Google pages). See browser.js for details
Stylish on Opera also gets this error when trying to load a custom CSS on google.com:
Could not communicatÂe with the page. Try reloading the tab.
Stylus can access file:// URLs only if you enable the correspondÂing checkbox for Stylus extension on chrome://extensions page -
Dark Reader extension doesn't work on google.com with OperaOpera add-ons
(Haven't created a bug report since it isn't really Opera's responsibility to work with 3rd party extensions)
Dark Reader is an extension that can be installed on Opera via Install Chrome Extensions. It works on all websites I've visited on Chromium (Kubuntu 18.10) and Google Chrome (Windows 7), including google.com... but on Opera 57.0.3098.76, it does not work on google.com
I have tried deleting the profile folder and reinstalling the extension with everything on default settings... still nothing. My only theory is that Opera may be giving the rendering some kind of special treatment when it sees
google.com
... could anyone possibly shed some light on this issue?
