@deathcat It's the reason why I'm switching to a more secure browser like Vivaldi, too. They implement security fixes from Chromium almost on the next day every time.

RE: How good is the ad blocker?General
@leocg You‘re right. Although DER SPIEGEL is one of the most popular quality news pages, it’s very (!) heavy on advertising. So rhey‘ve found multiple ways to circumvent ad blockers.

@burnout426 Fine. Thank you. It’s great to have this kind of customization.

How good is the ad blocker?General
I get, that Opera promotes itself as having this decent ad blocker built in. But when it comes to real world pages, it looks like this:
As you see, although the ad blocker is enabled this certain website spiegel.de has so many ads coming through it, it really doesn't matter. And there's no change if I turn off "allow acceptable ads". I get this one then:
I call this really disappointing. I know I can load an add on like UBO, but why do I get so much promotional stuff with the native ad blocker turned on? It's what I would expect when I didn't use an ad blocker at all.

RE: Do amazing things with tabs in Opera browser – split, trace, and decorateBlogs
Split screen is a welcome addition to Opera. I've used this feature in Vivaldi very often. So I appreciate that Opera does it, too, now. I hope, they add some possibility to split at least one more tab to it. Nevertheless, a very handy feature.

Two Instagram accountsOpera for Windows
I don't know since when this happens and if it is really related to Opera as browser.
But as of today I can't switch between my two Instagram accounts without logging into them. Before there was no problem. Here are some of the possible troublemakers I can think of:
- I'm using Threads paralelly which can't be used with two accounts on desktop.
- I've got the inbuilt ad- and tracker-blocker turned on.
- I'm blocking third party cookies
- I'm using the DNS over HTTPS-Setting
But I could swear, that it had worked before without any issues. Does anyone experience the same issues?

@eharabien Deleting custom designs has been added to the recent update. Thank you very much for that.

RE: No automatic updatesGeneral
@leocg Opera One - and it has always been there even after fresh installations and new user profile.
I've often wondered why users complain about automatic updates as that didn't happen to me. -
No automatic updatesGeneral
I'm using Opera on Windows and Mac and on neither system is it updated automatically, nor do I get I notification about an update.
As I regularly check for updates or look in the forum, that's no major concern.
Parallelly there's also Vivaldi on my PCs and it gives me notifications about a new version without forcing the update itself.
How can I get this behavior for Opera too? -

@daria19 As I'm getting used to the new version, I really appreciate it. It's the best looking browser with the most handy features for me. Thank you very much.

@eharabien You’re answer is appreciated as well. Maybe, I‘ll give the new Opera another week and see, if we‘re getting friends
But animated themes have not been on my wish list, actually. But maybe, I‘ll be convinced when there are more in the store. Otherwise to customize the classic one isn’t the worst option either. Maybe, it was almost my gallery flooded with themes, make me grumbling. -
RE: Opera launches Opera One R2 – the best Opera Browser to dateBlogs
@andrew84 Yes, I think so. I could change and edit themes with Vivaldi at least five years ago. Same goes with split screen, which in Vivaldi is not restricted to two sites. Although I have to admit the feature is better implemented in this new Opera version.
I don't know if this all is some Gen Z marketing with all this hype. I mean, maybe I'm just too old for such stuff.
I came back to Opera before Version 100 and I did like it how it was. I'm not sure what are the benefits of all these changes since then.
I'm trying out Brave for now. Let's see where this leads me to. Thank you, Opera, for more than two years now. I hope, you'll stay relevant even without these gimmicks. -
RE: Opera launches Opera One R2 – the best Opera Browser to dateBlogs
Let me be honest: The new Opera One R2 is mostly about eye candy - isn't it? I mean, why should I change my themes with even having music in the background?
It really got bloated in my eyes with all of that new stuff. Isn't a web browser mainly for searching the web and getting out of the way?
Also, I when experimenting with themes I couldn't delete my customized ones, which leads me to having five Classic, two Midsommer and three Aurora in my gallery.
Still, even with a Aurora enabled I see the sites in my sidebar with just classic dark theme which is very unpleasant for my eyes.
I'm sorry to say, I would have expected something different from this update.
Unfortunately, my other appreciated browser Vivaldi also has come up with a new visual upgrade these days. And I don't like them either. Time to switch to Firefox or Brave again, I think. -
RE: Completely change your browser with dynamic themesBlogs
Is there a way to delete duplicate rsp. customized themes? I haven't found out so far.

RE: Opera launches Opera One R2 – the best Opera Browser to dateBlogs
@lancealot That one didn’t come from me. It’s what they say on sites like this e.g.
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2498884/chrome-130-first-patch-fixes-three-high-risk-security-flaws.html
I was really asking then. -
RE: Opera launches Opera One R2 – the best Opera Browser to dateBlogs
@lancealot But it leaves the question: Are we open to exploitations because of the unfixed security holes? Shouldn‘t there at least be some backports in due time? I don’t see that really been done.
