By "stop working" you mean what? You can't open them?

An update shouldn't make your SD unusable. Maybe there is something broken in your install.

You can try one of the following:

Rename opera_autoupdate.exe Block opera_autoupdate.exe from acces the internet There is also this tip: https://forums.opera.com/post/36857
