I wish I had the option of 1 speed dial for both of my computers. I recently migrated PCs, and was startled to find that my speed dials had not appeared; it was only after poking around that I found them under a speed dial thingy from my other machine.; I then copypasted them into my new PC's speed dial. Not a biggie, but a little annoying. Ideally, it would be the same for both, since I use both machines the same, and it makes bookmark sync look messy, with speed dial folders from old computers I don't use anymore appearing. I keep my Work Only and Home Only and School Only sites in separate folders, anyway, so I don't need multiple speed dials. This feature request gets an upvote from me.

Would it be an option, Opera devs, to add an On/Off autoupdate option, to avoid all this hassle?

Would it be possible to merge the Extensions Bar (Menu>Extensions>Extensions Bar) and the Opera Sidebar? It just feels they fill more or less the same functions, and I can't imagine anyone who would ever use them both simultaneously, whereas I would never be tempted to pin the Sidebar without the option of custom extensions like the Extensions Bar, and the Extensions Bar, by itself, doesn't have enough functions, compared to the Sidebar.

As it is apparently desirable to use the Opera Sidebar (hence why Opera pins it by default on new installations), why not merge the somewhat redundant Extensions Bar, and bring its functions to the mainstream? I believe it would be a very good change.

What about putting the switch under "Advanced Settings" or chrome://flags, with red warning text?

This is really weird... I was on O_55.something (the version where you fixed that "New Tab Omnibox not focused" bug), then this afternoon, I updated to O_55.0.2994.61, and scrolling feels a lot better... Not sure if it's fixed yet or not. Will keep y'all posted.

If legitimate links are redirecting to ad websites, it sounds like you might have got some browser malware. I got that behaviour years ago randomly when using Google Chrome. I tried antivirus scanning, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro to no avail.
The solution was to delete my browsing data - you might be able to keep your password data, etc., just delete as much of it as you possibly can afford to lose. It's some sort of adware that stores itself in your browsing data, and antiviruses don't think to look there.

Go to Opera Settings/Privacy/ then click "Clear browsing data" and untick "passwords" and anything else you want to keep, but delete as much as you can. That should get rid of the ad redirects (and the rest of it, too), if I've understood your problem correctly.

The window border of 1px is visible along the top of the tab row when Opera is maximised. It's an irritating bug. It might not appear on the latest versions of Windows 10 (e.g. v1809 or v1803), with a clean install of the latest version of Opera (v56.0.3051.43), but will definitely appear if you're on an older version like v1709.

Solution: I think this bug was introduced in O_v56.0.3051.36 (see PS). If you find it irritating, go back to O_v56.0.3051.31 and rename the autoupdater exe (see https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/56.0.3051.31/win/). Possibly reinstalling Opera may fix it, too (?)

PS. I think this, based off the dates of Opera releases, and the date of my first post about it here, when I noticed it. I will test out my solutions once I get some free time at home. Possibly it was introduced with the first version of O56, in which case, the last version of O55 is available at https://get.geo.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/55.0.2994.61/win/

I hate this new "Instant Search", too. I use a launcher program (Wox) that already uses this shortcut, and am worried about conflicts. Need a toggle to disable this so-called feature. I can't help wondering how about this feature bloat that is coming to Opera - it must be contributing to CPU/RAM load somewhere. It already makes my older computer's fans whirr like a hurricane and opening Opera already takes ages when first opened. Couldn't extra features be delegated to plugins, like Chrome does?
