yea, found those, was hoping there where some instructions somewhere on how to change them via the opera:config
i would like to assign keys to common functions in the right click/context menu, as opera itself is doubling up functions due to addons and doesnt have the ones i want, assigned to others.
like vasyag said, v7bookmarks. someone else suggested it to me and it works without issue, where other add-ons deleted the folder trees for organising them.
have you installed or updated any apps or add-ons?
one of these could have changed your default search engine settings.
actually had this. thought it was a dud add-on.
one factor of the bug was that it did work for some fields, but ignored the [ins] setting, meaning i was overtyping what i had already done.
il give this v7 bookmarks thing a go, thats something at least. REALLY not looking forward to the idea of having to write down the passwords i have. especially when they are so conveniently backed up in firefox.
having just checked, even opera's own help page documentation only applies to version 12.
im thinking of switching from firefox to opera, and for the most part have managed to find replacment add-ons. (though inability to access half of them or re-arrange the order of their icons beside the address bar is an annoyance) but, a real deal breaker is that there seems to be no facility for backing up bookmarks and passwords securly.
i found one rather poor add-on for exporting bookmarks, which doesnt save the folder structure, making a royal mess. though at least those are backed up.
however having spent the last 2 hours searchin, i have not found a single method of backing up passwords that will work with any version of opera past 12.X. the closest thing to a method of backing up passwords i have found, seems to be lastpass, and the fact it works by uploading my passwords to 3rd party storage is utterly unacceptable to me. since not even banks can be trusted to not let customer data get compromised.
at this point im wondering if copying the AppData folders entirely would be the only way to do this. but then, im not sure if that would allow me to restore the files should i need to put them on a new computer, or even if that is where opera keeps this data.
tl;dr
is there a method to backup critical data (bookmarks and passwords) on my own backup device, in a way that will allow me to recover this info if my computer is damaged or the data gets corrupted? preferably something as simple as MozBackup.
