Yes, I only mentioned it as there are a number of Opera fans of O5 thru O12... and the ex-founder is heading in the direction (some of us) wished Opera had gone.
I especially appreciated how he worded the presentation, "A Browser for our Friends".
As you can see, I don't come here to berate or complain about Opera, nor do I bother participating in the Blog any longer.
So all those Opera defenders about how coding is so hard, and just be patient - and how we only had to wait 18 months+ for any semblance of Bookmarks? Yeah I don't think so.
Although that is a little bit snarky. It comes from a place of sadness, disappointment and frustration at what all of us have lost. The community was gutted, all the Opera 12 (and prior) s Skins are gone. User feedback during this transition has mostly been ignored, unless it aligned with the "new Opera vision".
I recall one user posted (3-6 months prior to the switch to Blink), that Opera was going to switch to Webkit, and everyone thought he was a damned fool. Then the shock of O15, gutted just like the community was (months later). Many of us stuck around, believing that Opera would rise from the ashes. Only to be told time and time again, that few if any O12 features would ever make it back into the new browser. The demand for bookmarks in any way shape or form was rebuffed with "just use speeddial".
I switched to Firefox, some others went to Chrome, and some still primarily use O12.
