So Opera 65 is still not updated on the snap store? The latest stable version on snapstore shows 64 and 65 is shown on Edge channel.
Any idea when Opera engineers will upload 65 version to snap?

Hello,
Sorry to be opening this thread here again but since yesterday I've been having VPN connectivity issues. The VPN icon stays orange. Just to clarify, I can connect using other similar VPN services using extensions on Chromium browser.
I hope Opera takes a look at this as this is the 2nd time in a week this issue is cropping up in less than a week!
I think my earlier thread about the same issue got deleted but by next day of posting here, VPN issue got resolved & I was able to connect (till yesterday).
If there is an easier way to report this issue other than here please let me know.
A week in to Opera 65 release and snap users are still left in the dust. I realize there may not be much support from Snap folks on resolving the issue mentioned in the above snapstore forum thread (still no replies as I type) but I hope Opera is taking other proactive steps rather than just wait for some one to reply in the forum thread.
As an end user, this is quite frustrating...
Hi,
Is VPN service on Opera down since the last day or so? I am on KDE Neon & v82 (.58 snap version is still not uploaded) and VPN was working fine until around 12 hours ago and since then I just getting orange connecting status.
Hopefully, it is an Opera back-end issue and Opera engineers are already on it!
My last post on this...no use in beating a dead horse over & over again.
I wish Opera communicates to us snap users about status of version 65. An official statement at least on this forum or a blog post about advising snap users to swith to deb or wait for 66...just give us some direction on what to do! Or perhaps Opera expects the users to take the cue...
And getting deb version of Opera 65 working on Ubuntu 19.10 version ain't that easy. Gotta install Chrome for it and plus do some mods and stuff...as usual no communication from Opera on how to getting their browser working with the above OS version seemlessly.
Kinda getting tired of the lack of communication from Opera. May be the linux user numbers are too small for Opera to care...
I am very grateful for the free VPN service being provided by Opera and it is the only thing which is keeping me continuing to use Opera. But recent events have made me realize that I should be on the lookout for an alternate browser with VPN on Linux and move away from Opera as soon as possible.
I think there has been some movement on resolving issues with Opera snap.

Dunno when Opera wants to release stable version of 66 (I am thinking they might want to do that before the holidays kick in)...but it is quite possible that snap users might get next stable version of 65 or 66. Of course, it all depends on Ubuntu/Snap team helping Opera folks resolving current issues.
Hi,
I think this may not be a strictly Opera issue but nevertheless, Opera is one of the browsers getting affected.
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 19.10 yesterday. During installation, I did check the option to install thrid-party codecs. After the OS was up & running, I installed latest version of Opera as well as Vivaldi browsers.
In both browsers, I am not able to play online video content which requires Flash I guess. Videos on Twitter don't work as wll as vidoes on most news websites.
I decided to check availability of libffmpeg.so and copy the same to Opera's installation directory. Funny thing, I cannot find "chromium-browser" folder in usr/lib/.
I installed Chromium browser from the default Software Store/Package manager but it installed the snap version of it. After installation I still can't see a folder "chromium-browser" in usr/lib/
Further, I installed "Transitional package - chromium-codecs-ffmpeg -> chromium-ffmpeg snap" codecs separately but it seems to have made no difference.
Bottom line, I still cannot play flash videos on both Opera & Vivaldi browsers.
I guess I can use Chromium browser temporarily till the problem is fixed but I prefer to use Opera.
I opened a new thread to help out other Opera/Vivaldi Ubuntu 19.10 flavors users who may in the same boat as I am. Further, I will try to post this on Kubuntu forums as well, but hoping some one can provide resolution ASAP.
Thanks...

I interpret the latest message as the issue is fixed...probably. Lets see if Opera can issue a newer snap version soon.
Been reading how many users are not happy with newer Bookmark side bar in v65 & v66 (video pop up issue). So, probably staying with v64 may not be so bad?

I’ve done this just now for opera-developer, opera-beta and opera. I tested that auto-connect is happening correctly with:
$ snap interfaces opera-developer
Slot Plug
chromium-ffmpeg:chromium-ffmpeg-93464 opera-developer
...
gnome-3-28-1804:gnome-3-28-1804 opera-developer
gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes opera-developer
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes opera-developer
gtk-common-themes:sound-themes opera-developer
...
$ snap interfaces opera-beta
Slot Plug
chromium-ffmpeg:chromium-ffmpeg-93464 opera-beta
...
gnome-3-28-1804:gnome-3-28-1804 opera-beta
gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes opera-beta
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes opera-beta
gtk-common-themes:sound-themes opera-beta
...
$ snap interfaces opera
Slot Plug
chromium-ffmpeg:chromium-ffmpeg-93464 opera
...
gnome-3-28-1804:gnome-3-28-1804 opera
gtk-common-themes:gtk-3-themes opera
gtk-common-themes:icon-themes opera
gtk-common-themes:sound-themes opera
...
I noticed that opera didn’t pass automated review due to it adding the dbus interface, and granted a snap declaration for that as well.[/quote]
The fault on this seems to lie entirely with the Snap team. A developer from Opera has made repeated requests about needing support to resolve issues so that they can update Snap versions. All his requests have been unanswered so far. Two months on & still no resolution...
If I were Opera, I would make a blog post about Opera Snap users switching over to regular deb version with detailed instructions on how to make Chromium codecs work on Ubuntu 19.10 (and older) platforms.
I think there has been some movement on resolving issues with Opera snap.

Thanks all for the replies.
@zalex108 , thanks for pointing out free VPN extensions on Chrome Store. Never thought of it...I can in fact install the above on Chromium and have an alternative to Opera.
@l33t4opera , those instructions look simple enough to execute. Might give it a try after the next stable Opera 65 update.
Still pissed with the Opera team and want to walk away just to make a point...but I actually do like Opera browser.
Again, it the users of this (& many freeware products) that make or break the experience with it...not the developers who are supposed to be giving the suggestions like the above.
Again, thanks to ya'll for the replies.
No VPN service on Vivaldi or any other browsers on Linux platform AFAIK. VPN is the only reason why I haven't removed Opera.
Also, Vivaldi is not offering snap installs. I was an user of Vivaldi till my fresh install of Kubuntu 19.10. Soon after installation, I ran in to Vivaldi browser not being able to play H.264 videos (just like deb version of Opera). Opera snap resolved video playing issue...I guess I am stuck with Opera till something else with VPN service comes along.
My last post on this...no use in beating a dead horse over & over again.

OK. So Opera engineers are waiting on Snap folks/Ubuntu to fix issue on their end?
