The interesting thing about Opera One is that it looks like the old Speed Dial tials are apparently still present in the code, but just not displayed.
If you click on the heart icon (1) in the taskbar and select Speed Dial (2), in the preview menu (3) you can still select the old large tiles with text only. However, the tile is not displayed in the Speed Dial. All other preview images that can be selected seem to work.
It's been over a month since I started my thread here and since then some new versions of Opera have been released.
Since nothing has changed in the Speed Dial UI, you don't need to have high hopes that something will change again.
Anyway, I'm starting to look at alternatives now. Nothing seems to improve with Opera anymore.
Well, I don't like the new style of Opera One either. I'm just curious if Opera will change anything. I have a dark premonition that what we see now will stay that way.
Going back to the old version can also only be a short-term workaround. At some point, bug fixes will be missing and there will be security holes in Chromium that have not been closed.
Therefore, one can only hope that Opera will look at the criticism of Opera One and offer settings in the next versions to restore the design as you knew it from Opera so far.

Thanks for the reminder of how easy it was to revert to older versions.
I also additionally deleted the autoupdate feature in windows task scheduler.
Opera One is not yet usable in the current state. Too much has been made worse.
Hello, is there somewhere a setting option to return from Opera One Speed Dial style to the old Opera Speed Dial style?
Why is the speed dial in Opera One now displayed so much smaller overall, making it very cluttered?
And why are there now these small useless icons of the web page, instead of the big colored tiles with the name of the web page in it?
I have created several folders in the Speed Dial and now I always have to guess what is stored where, if I don't want to always click on the folder to look it up. The icons are pretty useless.
Problem still appears in the new Opera version 98.0.4759.15.

with the latest Opera version 98.0.4759.6 the border and background color of the Speed Dial folders changed to black/dark grey.
Is there somewhere a way to change the color back to white like it used to be with the earlier Opera versions?
With Speed Dials without their own image but just the name of the website on the tiles and many Speed Dials folders, I find the text hard to read with dark borders.
Changing the background image or the Opera theme to light doesn't change anything either, unfortunately.
As an example I made two screenshots of the current version 98.0.4759.6 with the new dark frames and the 97.0.4719.83 with light frames.
Hello, I wanted to ask if there is a way to change the order in which Opera opens new tabs.
I would like Opera to place the last opened tab to the right of the active tab.
The current behavior is: active tab -> new tab to the right of active tab position 1, -> new tab position 2 -> new tab position 3.
The default sorting is: first opened tab to latest opened tab
I would like it the other way around: latest opened tab to first opened tab.
This means: active tab -> last opened tab to the right of active tab on position 1, -> previous opened tab position 2 -> first opened tab position 3
There are two add-ons Classic Tabs and SimpleTabOrder for setting the tab behavior. Unfortunately, both are no longer developed and in the latest Opera version there is the problem that the order of saved speed dials is messed up when opening.
