If you have no Google Chrome installed I see no other reasonable possibilty.
Bookmark importer doesn't work Opera: The link is in 'gray' instead of black: Unable to select this option.
This is only available, when importing bookmarks from an older version of Opera.
Fact is, that Opera has distributed a half finished browser, where some very important and required functions are just not ready.:-((

Quick answer: it's just not possible. One of the big missing functions.:-(
I have been an Opera user for years. I actually paid for it when it was commercial back in the day. And right now, looking at Firefox with addons vs Opera 20+ with addons, Firefox is a much better Opera than Opera, and that is also where I will be going once 12.16 is too much of a hassle due to lack of development. End of an era.
You should not only consider the presence of addons, where most are useless.
Current Opera is far more stable, fast and quick starting as ever Firefox.
I use Firefox as second browser and it crashes often, which I never experienced with Opera.
Also have a look how much space more on the screen you have left with opera, which can be used for browsing.
Not only a nice appearance counts for me, I am primary for performance, reliability and practical use.
For me things are clear. The devs started to destroy Opera since they shut down Opera Unite. I have no need of a Chrome clone and I will never use the new version of Opera. For now I use 12.16 and when this version will get too old for my needs, I will look for other browser, probably Firefox.

I use Opera Developer as main browser and Firefox as second browser.
Though Firefox looks very pretty and nice, it is far not so reliable as the new Opera and takes much longer to start.
From my point of view Opera is still one step in advance.
Opera is very well designed and optimized for fast and effective browsing and I wonder, how the Internet Explorer can have so much
users therefore.
Lastpass a few years ago had one (and only one) incursion in which one of their servers "appeared" compromised which it turned out that it was not. In its years of operation there has never been a loss of passwords which is something most sites cannot lay claim to. As far as I'm concerned, LP is perfectly safe (about as safe as anything stored on one's own PC) and I have no qualms about using its services.
Well, there is one point, which bothers me: I live in Germany and according to the experience with US-Procedures (NSA, outspying of data etc.). it makes me a headache, as the LastPass-Servers are certainly in the USA and I do not trust their security.
But, according to my findings there is currently no better password control system im place and therefore I will have to live with.
Why not using the LastPass-Extension??? It works fine and reliable.

I totally agree with you! That's my concern also, but I didn't find any better. Even KeePass was not satisfying for me.
Because i dont want to pay yearly for "extra" functionality to Lastpass.
It's free! I didn't pay anything for, as I didn't need the Premium-Function.
And ... (may be you laught at me) because a broeser's password manager has to work!

You want old Opera 12 bugs in new Opera? OMG. No!
Its hard enough to report bugs, which may be fixed in months, years or never (thats true!) for current painmaker Opera 20.
Opera 20 is ugly, has nasty bugs preventing me from using on website with logins (bad passwort manager, non-working password fill on webpages with Auth Basic). Bad debugging of Websites with WebInspector, and so on...
Stay with Opera 12 as long as you can.
I find it not that bad.:-)
