@bassett I replace the home page with Good Speed Dial and have set it, Sonarr's calendar, and my search engine of choice set to open on every launch of Opera.

Agree cause why would you need a separate launcher for a extension that already sits on your extension bar?

RE: [Solved]Opera Failing to MinimizeOpera for Linux
OK while waiting for this thread to be approved I installed the beta to see one by one if it was my settings or an extensions. Before adding or changing anything I attempted to minimize it and it has the same behavior of auto remaximizing as soon is it's minimized. So this is a browser specific issue.

Aria is almost as good as ChatGDT and certainly better than ChatSonic which has never worked properly for me. Probably out of the three I would choose and use Aria, which always works and for me is quicker than the others.
Gee that just make me want it, Not!!!
Come on half of what ChatGPT gives you is made up cause if it does know the answer it makes something up.

RE: [Solved]Opera Failing to MinimizeOpera for Linux
I am running Manjaro KDE 21.2.1 with Opera 82.0.4227.43 and I just clicked on the minimize button on the tabbar and it minimized and instantly maximized again without me touching the maximize button or clicking on Opera's icon in my Plasma panel. I had Vivaldi open for something else and decided to test it and when I clicked minimize it minimized to the panel and stayed there. I then went back to Opera and opened a private window to test with that and the private window itself not the OS or desktop started flickering. I ended up having to right it's panel icon to close the private window. I'm going to do a reboot to see if that might solve the issue, but if anyone has any thoughts on what might be going on I really appreciate the feedback and help. Thanks

RE: Group Speed Dial extension doesn't workOpera for Linux
I just tried copying the extension address from Vivaldi and pasting it in Opera and it loads Group Speed Dial, so the extension works but something in Opera is causing it to crash on browser exit.
EDIT:
Seems like the default address created by Opera for GSD is the issue. It's different than what Vivaldi has. once I added the address from Vivaldi to Opera I went into Opera's settings and saved it along with Sonarr calendar and Goole as my start pages. When I closed and relaunched Opera I had all my GSD groups. I suggest leaving this thread here in case others run into this issue.

Group Speed Dial extension doesn't workOpera for Linux
I just went to set up my browsers and in Opera beta pretty much all my extensions crashed and would crash every time I tried to readd my saved default folder. I finally removed the beta and install the latest stable version, launched it, closed it, copied my backed up user folder, open Opera and all looks good except for Group Speed Dial. I am not having any issues with GSD in any other browser, seems to be an Opera specific issue. Any ideas on what might be happening? Thanks

RE: FVD Speed Dial - New Tab PageOpera add-ons
@skfb said in FVD Speed Dial - New Tab Page:
@opeepo10: While you're absolutely right that it's easy to make a version yourself, even without knowing any code (ChatGPT could probably write it in less than a second), there are also developers, like myself, who simply can't be bothered to do it ourselves. To be completely honest, why bother with doing that work yourself when there are numerous other speed dials available. Yes, you get some more control... on a highly surveilled internet where third parties already have everything they want to know about you. Whatever control you gain from running your own speed dial, is nullified the moment you leave that page by clicking on a speed dial, as you are only in control on your own site. Outside that site you've once again relinquished control to third parties. So all it really does to make your own speed dial, is bragging rights, an illusion of control and wasted time that could be spent on more fruitful endeavors. You're of course free to do with your time as you please, but there isn't any real benefit to building your own speed dial, beside personal satisfaction. I've since changed to YASD - Yet Another Speed Dial. It requires the extension that lets Opera run extensions from the Chrome Extension store, but other than that it looks and feels like FVD, if not better.
I'm calling bs on this. speed dials, bookmarks, etc.... all once you click any link you are most likely giving a third party some access to your info. However creating your own speed dial page keeps one more app creator out of your personal info cause it is your personal app and not some app you installed from a third party.

@leocg Good to know but doesn't answer the question. There must be a way in config to disable this behavior.

RE: Opera Disabling ExtensionsOpera for Linux
I do expect a reply to this, cause I'm sure there is a way for the enduser to disable this behavior in Opera. It is unacceptable for the browser to decide for me what is or isn't safe. I will make that determination.

The display of deleted threads that you can no longer view takes up additional space, and there are huge voids of white space. Why are the replies presented twice, in my opinion, it unclear. The information that matters the most does not automatically attract attention.
Yes see the two Dead spots above this post for a good example.

Opera Disabling ExtensionsOpera for Linux
I just launched Opera and was informed that it took it upon itself to disable one of my extensions. I clicked the message to go see which one was disabled and it's Tampermonkey. I have never had an issue with the extension and honestly would have preferred being warned and asked if I wanted to disable it or not. So have to ask if there is a config that I can edit to disable this behavior in Opera.

This feature should be inbuilt in opera since 1999 but it seems this are busy in redesigning to a point that is becoming useless and invisible,
That's fine if you want to leave your browser open or at least running in the background. No Thanks. Better to backup the tabs when you go to close the browser.
