Random Page crashesOpera for Windows
Today Opera (W11 x64) suddenly started crashing on random pages which normally load fine. (e.g. facebook.com; virustotal.com) I get the 'reload this page' msg.
Opera is up-to-date, issue still occurs when extensions etc are disabled; cache etc cleared.
Nothing new installed on the PC.
Have not tried a full re-install yet....
Anyone else seeing this? -

RE: Speed dials missing after an updateOpera for computers
@funkychick7
It is just moving the links from the root of one folder to another. The root Speed dial folders should both contain a sub-folder of the same name eg Desktop-win10sux
All I did was move my links <ctrl+a> then <ctrl+x> into the identically named Desktop-xxxxxxxxxxxx <ctrl+v>
You may also find drag & drop of the container 'desktop-whatever' between speed dial folders works.
My PWs are intact... -
RE: Speed dials missing after an updateOpera for computers
OK answering my own question....
In the Bookmarks management screen there are these folders- Speed dial - the normal default
- Other Speed dials - where all my links had been moved
I cut & paste these from the new 'other' folder in to the default Speed dial folder & my original set-up is working again.

Same problem!!
Is there a way to import the links as per the regular favorites?

RE: Opera CTDsOpera for Windows
Thanks for replies.
Yes
CTD = crash to desktop
OoM = Out of MemoryWas in a hurry so didn't translate, but...kinda worrying that a tech forum doesn't know tech acronyms Do Opera staff never read these posts?
Opera will CTD randomly, sometimes restarting sometimes not; I get 'Page Crashed' msg; I get 'Out of Memory' msg. (ie operas own preformatted error tabs with option to try reloading.)
Having less than 20% of RAM in use (16gb total) I find it hard to understand why I'd get an OoM error. I don't think changing the RAM heap via the registry would help but I've not tried it....I'm inclined to suspect that W10 has patched something that has broken Opera memory management but I'm guessing.

Opera CTDsOpera for Windows
v.56.0.3051.104 Windows 10 64-bit
for the last month or so I have been getting loads of total lock-ups requiring hard reset of PC, CTDs, OoM errors & individual page crashes + looooong load times on sites like Amazon, MSN & Outlook.
This occurs with extensions disabled or enabled; VPN On or Off; Ad-Block on or off.
Latest drivers on the OS (all Nov 18). Nvidia driver versions seem to make a difference but none solve the issues 100%.
Using -disable-gpu in CL has no effect
Hardware is 100%, RAM etc all pass stress testing.
Visiting same sites on Win7 x64 with same Opera version is error-free.Anyone have a solution for this?

Buttonize a keyboard shortcut?Future releases
Is it possible to assign a KB shortcut to a browser button? (I imagine this is a 'command')
I just want to script a button that has a KB function e.g. ctrl+shift+(A-Z 0-9)
The examples online suggest that this should be straightforward & I would like to try to write it myself.
Error messages etc assume you know what the commands could/should be, & the examples show the syntax but no list of commands/functions appended?
If I want to write a regex there are lists of commands I can work with easily available online......
Surely there must be a resource with the necessary info for this, anyone know where?I do not know the codebase in question but using the snippets available I have added a custom button to the browser.
I found this @ chrome -chrome.commands.onCommand.addListener(function(command) {
console.log('Command:', command);
});&
"commands": {
"toggle-feature-foo": {
"suggested_key": {
"default": "Ctrl+Shift+5"
},
"description": "Toggle feature foo",
"global": true
}
},Cannot see how to hook my variation of it up to the button though...
Ultimately it would be nice to create an extension for a button that an end-user could assign KB shortcuts to as req'd. Perhaps this already exists in some form?
Also I want to say thanks to Opera for the sidebar & to the independent authors of the extensions which make the current Opera version 'as useful' as Opera 12.xx, which I have now been forced to retire. No adequate bookmark management, notes tools etc had made the new Opera a Flopera as far as I was concerned, but now I am starting to really enjoy using it.

RE: Opera & capcha problems +no access to SteamOpera for Windows
Strangely enough since I posted this the capchas have gone from Steam & I can get in again.....
That doesn't help with the others tho. I still have endless fails when trying to TX a response - right or wrong answer they just reload & I can never access the sites

Opera & capcha problems +no access to SteamOpera for Windows
Using v12.17 1863 x64 on W7 I am finding increasing numbers of problem sites when they are using capchas to log in.
Today I can no longer use Opera 12 or 31 to log into Steam.
No matter what I type it always fails authentication.
Using Opera 31.0.1889.174 it takes approx 60 secs of a timer cycling before it shows 'incorrect login'
Whilst this is obviously Steams 'fault' for not testing all browsers adequately, other sites take 3+ tries before what I enter is seen as the correct answer/selection.This is a ridiculous situation. Surely there must be a solution?
