I am running Windows 8 and whenever I open the Opera browser my preferred homepage opens, but then a second tab opens with www-searching.com. I've looked at my settings and only my preferred url shows. How do I stop the second tab from opening? I've run virus and malware scans and everything is coming up clean. Not sure what to do next. Thanks in advance for any solutions you can share. Kelly

You've picked up some crapware. Go into the Windows uninstaller and uninstall it. Next, check your plugins and extensions pages for any unwanted entries and remove them also. You can find them by typing opera://plugins/ and opera://extensions into the address bar. You will have to do the same with any other browser you have install on your system as they have likely picked up this crapware as well.

On a side note, you said you ran scan but you didn't say with what. The quality of the scanner varies widely from one product to another. I recommend AdwCleaner and Malwarebytes for removal of adware, malware and crapware.

Check your Opera shortcut - some badwares just add itself to launcher command line. Most antimalware suites do not catch this kind of infection.
