      Hello list,

When I want to open a pls or m3u link, Opera 28.0.1750.51 (Debian Testing) is asking where to save the file. I'd like to open these mpegurl files with "vlc" but I cannot find the assosiations in Opera settings. There is (an old 12.16?) file ~/.opera/handlers.ini that seem to be ignored by opera 28.0.1750.51.

How do I set these file assosiations?

      Richard

Opera 28 will always save files.

Ok, opera28 will be unusable then. Why is that? Will this option be reintroduced again?

          Richard.

I can't say what will happen in the future (past Opera 30), but it is not in either Opera 29 (Beta) nor in 30 (Developer).

Strange. Lots of options have disappeared since 12.16. The "per site config" possibilty has disappeared as well. It's a pity that I have to use Firefox for some particular sites and configs. I think it's really A Bad Thing to remove the file associations menu. Today I got Opera29, only some cosmetic changes and some bugfixes. Anyhow, I'll have to wait I fear. Thnx for your time and answers anyway!

              R.

@richardlucassen: They haven't actively removed the features, they are gone because they had to switch engine and start over.

Does this mean that these features will come back again some day?

I don't really know. Opera has changed direction a bit, previously it was made for "power users", but now they also want to make a browser that is easy to use for "regular users". Some features have come back, like mouse gestures and sidebar, but many features, like tab stacking, are not available. So we will see.
