Opera 19: my solution for import Bookmarks from other browsers

For anyone else who is trying to figure out a way to mass import bookmarks from older versions of Opera, I found the Bookmarks Manager (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/bookmarks-manager/?display=en) extension to be extremely helpful. The extension has the ability to load a file with all of your saved bookmarks from other browsers, including older versions of Opera, and then mass import them.
This was extremely handy for someone like myself who has a ton of bookmarks

Your solution worked very well for me. Just one question is there a way to move the bookmarks to Opera 20's bookmark bar? I just wanted to drag and drop the links and folders on the Bookmark bar but it doesn't work.
Thanks,

You say Bookloads manager has already mass imported the bookmarks. I'm not sure where they are showing up in Opera 20. Maybe try Tidy Bookmarks Extension in the Chrome store. I have it, and it does seem to a pretty good job. If it doesn't do the job for you, then uninstall it. And there are other Bookmark extensions.. My thought would be, try, and then if necessary, uninstall.

See this link for a discussion of Tidy Bookmarks in connection with importing from Opera 12.

Opera no longer seems to carry the extension, but you can get it in the Chrome store, though you need the Opera extension Download Chrome Extension to use a chrome extension.

The "Tidy Bookmarks" extension on the Chrome Web Store. To install it in the new Opera, you can do this in two ways:
- First install the "Download Chrome extension" extension, and then the "Tidy Bookmarks", or 2. Install the Tidy Bookmarks directly, using this link.
Note: maybe the Developer changed his mind, and decided to make it available only on the Chrome Web Store, but more probably reason is, that some of his extensions didn't meet all of the Opera's requirements, and BTW this extension is not the only one of his extensions, which have been removed from the extensions webpage.

Simple way to import your bookmarks to Opera.
1.Click on the Opera Tab/Button/Menu key in the top lefthand corner. (button has half of red O followed by Opera spelled out)
2.Scroll down until you come across "Get Extensions", click Get Extensions.( You will then be routed to a page that say Opera add-ons in left corner of screen) ( the page looks like an app store)
3.Locate the search tool in the website, not from the tool bars of the browser. The search box is loacated on the right side of the screen below the Red "Opera Software" bar.( Search for addons will be greyed out inside of search box with magnifying glass icon next to it)
4.Type bookmarks in search menu and press enter or click magnifying glass inside search box.
- Select "Bookmarks Manager" Addon/App. (It is in the shape of a red bookmarker with 4 horizontal white lines inside of it.) Image below
-
You should be on the page with "Bookmarks Manager" System info and reviews. Once here click on the green rectangular bar with white words that read "Add to Opera" or the white plus sign to the left of "Add to Opera".
-
It will then install and you will be routed to the Bookmark Manager add on page. There will also be a shortcut for Bookmark Manager to the right of the search/address bar once installed. ( a grey bookmarker with horizontal white lines)
8.Select the drop down arrow to the right of import bookmarks or click the bold words "Import bookmarks" Image below
9.Follow the on screen prompts/directions under import bookmarks, upload favorites, and your done!
- Enjoy ( on any page you want to bookmark you can right click and select bookmark or click the short cut by the tool bar)

I have the same problem, I can't get for a solution to import my bookmarks from Chrome to Opera 20. I could see that it also go slower in pages like http://www.posicionarweb.pro/ (not using flash) and http://www.brunobaresi.com/ (use flash). What should I do to tackle these problems?

This thread is over a year old. Have you tried the bookmarks importer inside the settings page? I don't think it was available when this thread was first made.

Also, was there a typo when you stated you're using Opera 20? The current stable version is 29.
