Issues with downloading torrents in Opera

I've looked around a lot, and all the guides I've seen say that Opera will open a window and give me options when I try to download a torrent. It doesn't. All that happens is that Opera saves the torrent file itself. I'm using Opera 12.15 on OS X 10.8.3. Help, please! (I can provide more details if necessary)

I am getting a similar problem, except that when I open the torrent file with opera, I only see a page full of gibberish.

This is no longer supported in the Mac version.

Too bad it's no longer supported. I always like the torrent feature (not that I ever did anything Piratical...).
