Switched mouse buttons Back and Forward

My Logitech MX Anywhere 3 mouse buttons for back and forward are switched in opera - anywhere else they works as intended.
This wasn't a problem even some time ago, but I suspect some opera update.I am a long time user of opera and mx anywhere mice, and i think I remember this problem occurred before, unfortunately can't remember what the solution was in the end.
Opera One(version: 134.0.5954.46)

@burnout426 tried the standalone installation - the behavior there is different, though still not working properly:
- Back button works as expected
- Forward button doesn't work at all

As a test, not a solution, in Opera's install folder (path is shown at the URL
opera://about), while Opera is closed, copy opera.exe and paste it right into the same install folder to create a copy. Then, rename the copy to chrome.exe and then launch Opera with that chrome.exe instead. Any difference there? You can rename opera.exe in the test standalone installation too to test what that does there.
For another test, create a folder on your desktop named "Opera 133 Test".
Then, download "Opera_133.0.5932.85_Setup_x64.exe " from https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/133.0.5932.85/win/ to your downloads folder.
Then, hit Windows key + r to open a run dialog, type
cmdand press enter to open a command prompt. Then, type:
cd "%userprofile%\Downloads"and press enter to switch to your downloads folder.
Then, type:
Opera_133.0.5932.85_Setup_x64.exe --launchopera=0to launch the Opera installer.
Once the installer launches, click "options", change the install path to the "Opera 133 test" folder on your desktop, change the install type to "standalone installation" and choose to install.
Once Opera is done installing, it won't open. Then, go in the "autoupdate" folder in the the "Opera 133 test" folder and delete opera_autoupdate.exe.
Then, start Opera, goto the URL
opera://versionto confirm you're using 133 and then test things to confirm that things still work fine in 133. -

Also, for your regular installation, what exactly do you have enabled at the URL
opera://settings/shortcutsas far as the 2 gesture settings go? -

You can also try in Opera Developer just to test if things work fine there or not. If so, the issue may be limited to Opera Stable.

@burnout426 thanks for the help
for the first test - both exe copies behaved the same as the originals - switched on opera im using; only back button working in the standalone version
second test - i installed the opera in desktop folder - the version stayed 133.0.5932.85 (Official Build) Stable (64-bit) and there the buttons work correctly

@burnout426 how do i clean up after these tests? should i uninstall somehow or just delete folders/new exes and rename the old ones to original?

@iwua For the standalone installations, you just delete their folders. That's it.
If you didn't use the standalone installation for Opera Developer, you uninstall via "Installed apps" in Windows.

@iwua Opera 133 is on Chromium 149. Opera 134 is on Chromium 150. Opera Developer (Opera 136) is on Chromium 151. Current stable version of Chrome is on Chromium 151.
It'd be interesting to temporarily test in Chrome to see if it has the issue too or not. Same with Opera Developer. It might be a Chromium issue that started with Chromium 150 that may or may not be fixed in Chromium 151.
If it is a Chromium issue, a bug needs to be filed at issues.chromium.org.

I see https://forums.opera.com/post/171766 that says you can use your Logitech mouse settings to have a profile just for Opera where you switch the buttons so that make Opera happy. Might be an option for a workaround for now.

OK. Final tests for you.
Remove any Opera profiles you added in your mouse settings.
Download chrome.7z under Assets at https://github.com/Hibbiki/chromium-win64/releases/tag/v150.0.7871.47-r1639810 to your downloads folder. Then in File Explorer, go to your downloads folder, right-click it and choose "Extract all". You should then have a "Chrome" folder in your downloads folder.
Then, hit Windows key + r, type
cmdand press enter to open a command prompt. Then, type:
cd "%userprofile%\Downloads\chrome\Chrome-bin"and press enter to switch to the extracted folder.
Then, type
dirand press enter to see the files (chrome.exe and the 150 folder etc.).Then, type:
chrome.exe "--user-data-dir=%userprofile%\Desktop\Chrome150test"and press enter to launch that version of Chrome with a test profile folder on your desktop.
Does that version of Chrome work fine too or are the buttons switched there like in Opera?
Then, close that Chrome.
Then, type:
copy chrome.exe opera.exeand press enter.
Then, type:
opera.exe "--user-data-dir=%userprofile%\Desktop\Chrome150test"and press enter to launch Chrome with its executable's name set to opera.exe.
How does Chrome behave then?
When you're done testing, you can exit the command prompt and you can delete the "Chrome150test" folder on your desktop and delete the chrome.7z and the "Chrome" folder in your downloads folder.

Opera Stable 134.0.5954.56 just came out. Make sure to update just to see if it's any different. Nothing in the changelog indicates that updating will help, but ...
